there is 0 need for the motherboard upgrade for those that have the 5791. as long as you are using bios 1.00.08 from either clevo or sager everything functions flawlessly.. sleep, penryn support and the 8800gtx works perfect. im uploading a video showing my system going to sleep 4 times. twice by actually clicking sleep from the start menu and twice from setting it in the power setting to one minute. ill have it up soon.

im going to do a full how to for those that have the older systems on how to flash and what is needed since ive been asked so many times.

745$ for the gpu and i paid 400$ (well i was owed 400$ so thats what i got it for) for the x9000. video sucks imo it was taken with a 10mp cam but its not bad and it can def be seen it works perfectly.. uploading to youtube now.. def pwnage!!

when i finish the how to (hopefully tomm) ill use my dvd cam to take a much better video to post with the how to.. that will be perfect and clear..

Z, make sure the video is less than 100 megs.
Use win avi converter to resize it.

I usually set my videos for upload as this:
    - video codec to (320x240 or 400x300) Xvid/DivX or Mpeg-4 @ around 350-400 kbps bitrate
    - audio codec to mp3 @ mono 22khz and 64-96 kbpz bitrate

not sure what they used on the 8700 but imo it didnt look or feel like as5.. it was very thick. and it was dried hard.. it was also applied WAY TO THICK.. i mean it was THICK!!!! that was my main reason for suggesting to reapply it..

Dude, just make 2 youtube vids. Part 1 and 2, this way you won't have to sacrifice video quality. Although it would be nice to see it as one entity, it's not completely necessary.

Sleep worked with my NP5790 too when I upgraded to the 8800M.

I have yet to hear from someone where it -didn't- work as they say it shouldn't. I'm not complaining though :p It could be that there is one particular mobo version or something out there that it occurs with so to be safe they just said it for everything or something. Better to be pleased than disappointed!

well so far we have documented cases from rev's all the way from 3.0 through 4.2.... i have seen three of them now myself that worked fine. but sager insisted to me this was IMPOSSIBLE. also justin from xotic said most people reported it didnt work for them.. not sure why maybe as you said there will be on certain case out there but so far i have yet to hear from a single person it does not work as it should

That`s good , but since I want the revised mobo , or maybe the TU platform, it` all the same.
So Sleep works, and the resellers were wrong?

I would say that they were wrong... but I have seen the S3 issue happen to some people's M570RU with the first revision motherboard.

And they were using XP as well... not sure if Sleep in Vista is different from StandBy in XP.

i guess so.. there are many many people now who have done just the gpu and not the mobo and sleep works fine for all of them including myself. im not saying the resellers were wrong because they were just stating what sager was telling them. but imo there really is no issue. maybe one person has had it but i have yet to see anyone who actually has..

if it has a t9500 now you should be able to use a x9000 without any issues. but if the bios from dell does not allow for overclocking (which im not sure if it does or not) then imo its pointless to upgrade your t9500 to a x9000 there is little to no difference unless you are oc'ing the x9000..it should not void the warr. unless it requires a full dissasembly. i have not worked with the 1730 personally though..i mean dissasembled it.

wanna sell the t9500 cheap?? lol i have someone i know who wants one..

about the ageia imo i would not bother. they have shown to have little to no real world effect on gameplay as have the turbo mem now.. i would not spend that money. if you have it and you dont care hell buy it. those come able to be configured for it from dell so there should not be a problem dropping it in there but i could be wrong. its been a while since i have been a dell person.
