D901C (MotherBoard 5.0)
Windows XP Pro. Pre-installed.
Drivers that came with the bulid would not complete 3Dmark 06.
Removed them Per the Video driver thread and installed 164.09
Ran single card test...Completed! 5334 3D Marks!
Open Nivida Control Panel in the memory bar. Click on Enable SLI. The drivers say that it has to shut down programs....I say OK.
Desktop Crashes. Press and hold power button to do a hard reboot.
When i'm back to the desktop i Look and indeed SLI is still checked in the Nivida control panel.
So i start 3dmark 06 again. first test starts and freezes about 10 seconds in?
There are other things i need to do to enable SLI on my Laptop listed in my sig?
It's my first SLI rig, So if there are steps to set up the drivers correctly, I did not find them here or in the Graphic card section.
Any help is greatfully Accepted.
Thx
-
Well, A double reboot got the first test to run, But crashed trying to load the second test.
Display driver stoped working normaly, The little box says.
nv4_disp
The other box (yup i'm so lucky...i get two!) Says Idirect3dDevice9 Present Failed. Driver internal error (D3DERR_driverInternalError.
I'm at a loss as what to try next? -
Yeah thats why i never trusted SLI...
-
LOL...Ya well there is an answer out there. Others can run 3Dmark 06 in SLI. I'm just missing a setting or something someplace.
Yes I did toggle the fans on High By Useing FN +1 -
In the Bios...one setting I don't understand?
Route port 80h cycles to-
Choices are-
LPC or PCI
Mine is default LPC
That correct? -
Did you install the driver like was suggested in the D901C Owner's Thread?
-
Twice.
First time not in safe mode.
Second time...Removed them in safe mode.
Reinstalled in normal boot with the Setup in the 169.09 folder.
INF file from LaptopToGo, International drivers.
P.S.
My Bad
Install 1 card only. When the driver asked you to install and you click 'Continue Anyway' Do this only once!
I did it twice,How silly of me to follow Nivida's instructions.........LOL -
Okay thats not quite what I asked.
-
The correct response is: NO
I was unaware of the not clicking continue the second time, That fact is not in the drivers thread, and that is what i went by.
By the way, the test is running now, Windows gives me the error again, But the test is still running....
So it seems to be better. And it may complete the test. But the error remains.
Nope. crashed on Deep freeze. -
You may want to try a different driver. And also update directX. Just IMO. I'm using 169.09's in SLI with no problems atm.
-
Well the update DirectX is a good idea.
That will be the next thing i will try. -
BAH.
BSOD.
is there a program that will let me see the temps as i run 3DMark?
Being a new bulid, there may be a problem with the heatsinks or something? -
Well...PCMark 05 crashes as well....same problem...
A Reload of the OS may be in order. -
You might need to call your reseller there have been some issues with the wrong vbios you download GPUZ to find out what you have and maybe a few others can compare.
-
Ah, I think I know what your problem is DJDave, you bareboned it from RJTech. With no OS I'm thinking? You installed it yourself right? You probably have quite a few windows issues. I don't know an easy solution besides trying a complete reinstall. I've been reading some of your posts and your machine is ateup by gremlins. That's about the only thing I can think of to fix all the problems.
-
nope...RJTech installed the OS.

Well i would not call it ate up so much as just a ruff install of the OS and drivers. I new, and expected to dive into the computer and learn all i can about it's idiocyncrasies (proper instalation of the video driver comes to mind first.LOL)
And of course questions i have about some things that are differant in the Bios. (the 80h switch for example)
I would like to think i'm very good about computer systems, And i have bulit many over the years, AMD mosty.
But the D901C is a differant animal, and i do look forward to the chalange to make it the best it can be. And i can learn in the process from those that have went there before me..
Thanks to all of you here. -
Since you've been having so many issues there has to be something loose inside your case. It's that or your windows install is fubar. With all the problems you are having I would talk with your reseller RJTech and see if they can fix them to be honest. Sorry I can't be more help.
-
I thank you for the effort Sir.
-
got the Dos Flasher for the video card, Flashed the parent card.
Bingo....SLI now is working.
All stock, with all the background stuff running in memory i got 8515 3DMarks.
thats about right from what i have read here,
Thanks to all who tried to help.
Edit: 6615 PCMark 05, At least i can test this thing now...
Second edit.
Wprime 1.55
32m Speed test = 31.124 sec.
1024 stress test = Thread 1 finished at 909.032 Overall test score when the second thread finished is 973.5 sec.
does everone's cpu do that?....or am I just the lucky one.......LOL
Yes i did do the CPU patch in Golphin's thread.
Thx Again.
-
Still seems low to me man, I'm not an expert on 8700 scores but with my 7950's in SLI I get about 9600 with no overclock. Thats in 3dMark06. With 05 I'm hitting well into 14k, if my memory serves me correctly.
I still think something is wonky. You should not have HAD to flash your 8700's. They should have come configured properly. You got them from RJTech as well correct? -
yes the laptop came complete as listed in my sig, with XP Pro installed.
The problem was with the parent Card, i flashed it with the Dos Utility he sent me,rebooted and it completed 3Dmark 06 for the very first time in SLI.
Thanks for your input, i posted my results just to see if i was in the ballpark with my test results. -
As far as the CPU goes it's a bit low to be honest. My 32M Scores are listed in the Wprime thread. I think it was 28s and 904? For a 2.93Ghz vs your 3.0Ghz your a bit low, not to mention the 1066FSB vs your 1333FSB. Again your system is probably not optimized, and would perform a bit better if it was. There are some good threads to read about optimization in the D901C owners thread in my 1st post. Check it out. Hope it helps man~!
-
Yes. -
I will as time alows..
Learning from others experience's is why i'm here.
SLI is driving me crazy -er........LOL
