    Hey all,

My system has been running great, up until last night.

I redid the entire laptop with Windows 8.1 Update 1.

I installed all the drivers provided from Sager's website for this laptop.

Install, reboot, install, reboot et cetera.

My problem now is that plugging anything into the headphone jack = no sound.

    The speaker play sound fine.

What i did notice, i can plug devices into any other jack and the Realtek software pop's up and asks me what i am pluging in. Headphones it only says

    Nothing else.

How ever when i plug in to the headphone jack either of my 2 set's of headphone or my Fiio Amp's, either of the 2, nothing pop's up and no sound comes out of the devices.

Windows show's audio playing, but nothing comes out.Unplug the device and speakers kick in and play

I have tried the latest Realtek High Def Audio drives from their site
I have removed the SoundBlaster Software
I have re-installed the drivers several times both Sagers and newer

    Same results..

I beleive it has to do with the Realtek software not prompting me for a device type so it doesnt know what to do...

Can i force the plugged in device selection anywhere?

Do you have the latest hotkey application? Try updating that and/or installing it if you have not.

I found some weird interactions between the two.

also notice using the speaker, the sound is coming out alot more on the RIGHT side, i can put the balance in windows to about 100 Left and about 30 right for the sound to be balanced from both sides....

You are a genius, installing the HotKey software my audio works perfectly fine, also audio is properly balanced.

Kind of a pain they would cause such an integration with software vs hardware and drivers...

I think it's because the hotkey driver handles the 5.1/2.1 low-end driver of the physical hardware, and most importantly, the headphone amplifier, and the realtek just drives the speakers and sound system.

Hey guys, I have been having this same exact problem, been looking for a solution to this same problem for a while now. Can you provide a link to the "latest hotkey application"? I'm noob-ish in the sense that I have no idea what that is hahah.

    Thanks so much

Thanks so much for the link Hutsady. I have opened the link, downloaded and ran "Audio Driver for Windows 8.1 32 BIT / 64 BIT" and my problem persists. Perhaps I should explain it at this point to see if you can help.

So ever since I have had this laptop, its a Clevo W355SS, I have had weird issues with my headphone jack output. It came with this thing called "CONTROL CENTER". Its a popup menu, I'll include pictures.

What happens is, as soon as I lock my computer, the audio signal immediately stops coming out of the headphone jack. I then have to open this CONTROL CENTER and go to the GAMING tab, then click on one of the Headphone options, as soon as I click an option, such as Direct, then audio comes back on through the headphone jack. Happens every time I lock, shut down, or sleep my computer. Have no idea why

Download and install the latest hotkey software.

    That window is with hotkey.

There's a known issue with older hotkey cutting off the sound during sleep/hibernate.

If, for whatever reason, the latest does not take care of it, I believe Thanatos mentioned the solution on his laptop (different model, same problem) was renaming the hotkey dll that handled the enable/disable of sound on sleep/standby.

I think it's hp.dll you need to rename to something like hp_dll.donotuse, but only if the new install of the latest hotkey doesn't work.

Remember, you need to fully UNINSTALL the hotkey before installing the new one. You can't install over it.

    Dear Ashen-Shugar,
Thank you so much. I have been having this issue intermittently since I got my Sager. I've on and off disabled the hotkey software at boot and didn't catch the correlation because it seems to work until the computer sleeps. I had done some research and found that powering down and removing the battery, power source and pushing the power button and then rebooting would also do the trick and was concerned that I had a hardware issue (PLEASE NOTE: the solution I just described can be useful in other situations and I highly recommend it if someone asks you to fix a computer with sound card issues. My GF's employer was going to buy an external soundcard for her ThinkPad and I fixed it using the aforementioned method). Now that I know this software is the cause/solution I will just deal with it being in the background and try to convince myself it is not bloatware.

    So much thanks!

Another note to other users...I was able to run Linux without ANY issues. While running Windows the hotkey software may be needed, but it seems that most functionality works fine in Linux without it.
