So I recently decided to upgrade my storage and got a 1 TB mSATA (for a bargain), and a new 2 TB SSHD (which costed 5$ more than a normal HD), + the 250 GB SSD I already had. My old HD will be placed in an enclosure.

What would be a proper configuration? I have read about RAID but can't really grasp how it works...

Right now I'm thinking about cloning the SSD contents (mainly OS) into the mSATA, and using the SSD for high demanding games, mSATA for medium demanding games and OS (the port is only SATA II, but has high IOPS), and rest into SSHD.

    Thoughts?

Msata for boot (iops means more here)

Ssd for sandbox/continual load games (seq means more here) - hdds can stutter terribly handling things like jetting around in GTA5

I'm not too impressed with hybrid hdds. Maybe they made sense 5 years ago when ssds were expensive. On a big storage drive the ssd cache will be almost useless.

Raid is too many headaches to worry with imo.

Ok, so more or less what I had in mind.

About the SSHD, yep, but it virtually costed less than 5 bucks more for more speed, and a normal HD of larger capacity was either outside my budget, or didn't fit the 2.5 inch+9.5mm requirements.

The hybrid drives just did not have a large enough cache really.
