Just bought a OCZ Vertex 2 SATA II 2.5 to put in my Clevo D900F laptop. Am totally lost on this, and have no idea what to do now.

    SHORT STORY:
I can't even see or choose the SSD during the Windows 7 installation. Nor in My Computer, or in BIOS. Why??

First time I booted it was with the HDD I already had in the laptop. I booted it with Windows 7 install disc and did a format and installed the SSD as primary. It worked (somewhat... it worked for 20mins or so, but then it stopped "remembering" things. Like if I deleted something from the desktop, it would reappear on reboot. Or if I changed the theme it would change back on reboot). This would not happen on the other drive however, everything I did there stayed the same after reboot.

Also I went into BIOS I noticed it was set to RAID, so I changed it to AHCI and restarted the laptop. And I got a BSOD and it kept rebooting, until I changed back to RAID and it worked again. Well, like before with the "memory loss".

So, I then I thought I'd reinstall one last time, but set it to AHCI before formatting and installing. So I removed the old HDD and left the SSD in alone. Booted it up with AHCI set, and using the Windows 7 disc again. This time I left everything unallocated and hit Next on the install. It seemed to work. I got to the desktop, all working fine. But I wanted to reboot again to see if it would remember the files I had on the desktop. Rebooted, but it wouldn't even get to the Windows logo now! Instead I was greeted with this message:

PXE-E61: Media Test Failure, Check cable error and PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM.

So I tried reformatting back to RAID, but I can't even see or choose the SSD during the Windows 7 installation or BIOS. Nor in My Computer when starting the laptop with the old HDD. Any ideas?

*Also tried putting it in a Macbook Pro, and the system does not recognize it neither.

where did you buy it? if it was from ebay it may be fake, i've also heard that ssds have a very high failure rate.

the ocz drive is the problem. good luck on the warranty. ocz uses sandforces controller and lots of people are shying away from those if reliability is high on their list.

I'll just send it back. But the shipping took ages :( So doubt I'll get a new one if this is something that happens often.
