    Hi guys,

    I'm looking for a SSD with capacity around 100GB for preferably under $200. I'm fine with 2nd generation technology, as long as it's reliable. Will be using it for boot drive, some apps and games.

    I was looking at the OCZ Vertex 2, but from some posts here it seems like they are incompatible with Clevos?

    Thanks in advance :)

    Edit: Sorry, I meant P151HM1 (if that makes a difference)

    Yea I would watch out with the OCZ drives, they have some documented incompatibilities. I would suggest in your pricerange looking at a 320 Intel drive, and a Crucial M4.

    I ordered a Crucial M4 128GB for just under $180 yesterday for my P151HM1. I haven't received it yet (obviously) so I can't say if it works flawlessly, but based on other posts here it seems like this SSD works fantastically after a registry fix.

    This. I got my M4 for $199, and that was a screaming deal. $180 boggles the mind.

    As to performance, mine's in a P150 (basically the same for all intents and purposes) and it rocks.

    Make sure to do a clean install of windows. Turn on AHCI mode in the BIOS before install. Immediately after install, apply the LPM fix, reboot, install the RST patch from Intel, reboot, then install the other Clevo drivers. The info is in the SSD Thread.

    Here's a link to the firmware http://www.crucial.com/support/firmware.aspx

    Thanks for the quick responses! The M4 for <$200 looks like a bargain, too bad I live in AUS though, extra $60-100 in shipping ouch!

    Ugh, that stinks. Hope you can find it down under - or someone to mail it to you.

    is the Registry fix the same as what Xerloq described? Also, I'm looking to do the exact same for my future P151HM1 purchase.. Xerloq - can you please provide more information about the issues with the M4 and why your steps should be performed? Also, can you please link the thread/post that you mentioned ?

    Yes. The registry fix disables the Low Power Management features that cause the drive to stutter or blue screen the OS. Updating to firmware 0002 supposedly fixes it as well. http://www.crucial.com/support/firmware.aspx

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sol...cial-m4-micron-c400-ssd-series-thread-12.html

    The registry fix is 5 lines of code.
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\iaStor\Parameters\Port0]
    "LPM"=dword:00000000
    "LPMDSTATE"=dword:00000000
    "DIPM"=dword:00000000
    the RST fix is here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...ng&OSVersion=Windows 7, 64-bit*&DownloadType=

    Just to add to what everyone else is saying. DO NOT buy a OCZ drive for the laptop. I had one and it had a host of problems.

    C300 is also great in this laptop tho slower than the M4s (but maybe cheaper?)

    LPM registry fix is easy to do too - had to do it on mine. Now works great.

    OK! It's done, I ordered the P151HM1 and separately ordered the Crucial M4 SSD linked above. Will be a proud new owner soon!

    Also, thanks for the install advice too!
