Need to make sure that ‘AHCI’ is enabled in the BIOS. Also make sure your SSD is formated in NTFS has at least 15% or more free space available at all times for for best performance.

Im curious, if you partition your SSD into 2 drives, will this affect performance in any way ?

(same question goes for normal harddrives actually)

    :)

I've put an Intel X25 G2 in mine, and well it's just ace!!! Thankfully I didn't update the firmware when Intel released the TRIM update a couple of days ago. I'm running Windows 7 x64 and by all accounts the combination of both would have likely killed the drive.

Partitions don't effect performance, but until they sort out TRIM the drive will degrade over time, but even then it's still far faster than anything non SSD.

BTW NME, how are you finding the screen on the W860CU?

Well, I DID update the firmware on my 80GB Gen 2 X-25M!
I installed it as soon as I heard it was available
But, I dodged a bullet on this one and it upgraded OK. Intel has just come out and said the issues are with the upload routine, not with the firmware itself. So, if it installed OK, then you're safe.
On my 9280, the only option in the BIOS is AHCI.

But, I have to say, the drive is f-a-s-t
