    Question,

I would like to add an extra ssd to a Sager 9377 I just picked up. It comes with an intel 730 as the os drive. My questions are this:

    1. Is adding an msata drive any more difficult then a 7mm ssd in the separate hdd bay? I didn't see it referenced at all on the manual.

    2. Should I pair it with the Same model drive? It will be used for games and storage and to backup main os drive.

    3. Does the intel 730s they ships in these ship with the 7mm or 9mm version?

    Thanks

Adding a mSATA is pretty much the exact same thing as adding a SSD, you just put it in a different slot.

You dont need to get the exact same drive. That is only important when you are going to set up RAID with 2 or more drives.

I think the only 730 series made right now are 7mm but I could be wrong about that.

Is the 9377 you picked up HTWingNut's review model by any chance?

Only thing I'm going to add is that 7mm or 9mm doesn't matter, the laptop should come with some sticky foams that are used as spacers for 7mm drives.

Yeah and many 7mm drives come with spacers themselves.

Sent from my XT1053 using HoFo app.

You can even use a 2mm foam pad yourself too lol.

Yes that is the model I picked up. I ended up getting another Intel 730 in the 480gb size. I read the negatives about it regarding cost and power draw, but decided I liked having two of the same drive types and one management software only. So for these psychological reasons I decided it was worth the extra expense, etc. will see how it goes when it arrives.

Hello I have a question regarding SSD. Does this laptop support SATA 3 SSD? Or only SATA 2?

It will support SATA III in all the slots except the optical bay.
