    Hi I am trying to install the new nvidia drivers and trying to restart in safemode to it properly..

    I CANT FING DO IT!

    I have tried tapping f8 and f12 neither work...vista just boots up... I always have trouble starting in safemode whats the correct way?

    also when i hit f12 I key some sort of error screen before it boots to vista something about Realtek and checking a cable?? not sure what that means.

    anyway help plz.

    F12 is for network boot, it's a BIOS option, and the realtek "error" is PXE Boot ROM, Test media cable, boot failure (since there is no network boot device for it!)

    Turn off the computer, start tapping F8, turn it on and don't stop tapping F8 until you get to the boot selection menu.

    Do what Hep! said, just start tapping f8 as you turn on the computer, but if you see the vista logo then start over.

    start > type
    msconfig
    in the searh bos and hit enter

    Go to the BOOT tab, check SAFE BOOT

    reboot

    go back and uncheck it later to stop PC from booting into safe

    Thanks guys.... finally got f8 to work... its very touchy on my system for some reason.
