Don't bother with the turbo memory, instead put the money towards getting a faster processor.

Is opening programs a few seconds quicker worth more than the ability to run more programs and more powerful programs/games?

Meaning is saved time worth sacrificed performance?

Don't get the Intel Turbo memory dude.

I guess you are right, but listen to this..

    Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53Ghz
    If i want 2.66Ghz i need USD$55 more, so..

    Is it worth to spend USD$55 more for just 0.13 more Ghz? (2.66 - 2.53 = 0.13) when 2GB turbo only cost USD45 ?

What do you think is better?

Go with the better processor - based on what I've seen about the performance of turbo memory, I do not think you would get any really noticeable effect out of it, particularly not once your system's been running for a while and you've customized it to your satisfaction.

Turbo memory makes your system less stable, randomly resets itself and overall was a bane of troubleshooting when I had it installed.

I have owned 2 Sagers (5797 that I own currently).

They are solid laptops and don't feel cheap. I would encourage you to take a strong look at the offerings - buy from a reputable reseller (like power notebooks) and enjoy your new laptop.

I have a sager 5797 with turbo memory.
My system is very stable with the turbo memory no strange hangups bsods or whatever so thats a bit of a fable at least in my experience.
Is it useful? I'm not saying it's earth shattering or anything but I don't regret it.

Just as athinu said. I also have Turbo Memory, I do not regret having it, it does speed up things.

I have Turbo Memory as well, but I'm still not sure if it's done anything. In fact, I have no idea what it is, lol. I'd go for the faster processor.
This reminds me of that Bender and God episode, "When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all."

edit: Oh, and about Sager. They build a very solid machine. You will not be disappointed. Check out things at XoticPC, they're a great reseller.

turbo memry should help to speed up the booting and going out of hibernation . In addition it is used also for caching files that are used many time decreasing the opening time, in this case it is useful only if some files are often opened.

Very well..so i guess it is not that bad having the turbo, you can make sure that if something has a value, it is because it do something good for you. You are not going to purchase some hardware to make your pc worse (in case your pc perfomance can handle it no problem, of course). Anyways thanks for the advise everybody.

I think you should go not for the processor, not for turbo memory, but for an SSD. It's totally worth it. Trust me.

Sager notebooks are generally a lot more sturdy than the mass marked crap that dell, hp, and others put out. I got mine from http://www.xoticpc.com and it has served me well. It's been a year and a half and not even a hiccup.
