    Hey Sager / Clevo peeps!

Looking to join the club but need some advice on model and upgrades.

For starters, I am only playing (and thanks to wife) swtor (currently on iMAC through bootcamp) and BF3 (on ps3). I don't have time with work to play anything else so swtor is pretty much the only really deal atm.

I play mmo's (former Wow player and possibly picking it back up at xpack)

I will need to use this a little bit for school and work as well but not really to use in class room rather than on the couch with wife. o_O Pretty much need a gaming laptop.

I have no more than $1900 to spend (including any warranty or shipping).

I will need OS to come with it seeing that all I've owned in years are Mac's.

So I guess the real question is. What to get with the above in mind, for the price. And what would the best upgrades be for the price range. I know a little about comps but am not a gear head to really make decisions.

    Any help DOES help!!

    Thanks!

Agreed with Jentage. The hardware combo mentioned is the best bang for your buck right now. With a budget of $1900 you can also get an SSD (Intel 510 120GB) included Windows 7 Home and still be under budget.

    Sound advice!

As for the SSD, with that included...... I would definitely go past my budget with warranty's (dp etc) and for shipping and not having to wait 2-3 even 4 weeks to get the comp.

Thanks for the advice!!! I REALLY do appreciate it!!

You could get the Sager NP8170 / Clevo P170HM. As well, a 17 inch screen gives you the option of upgrading to a 3D display.

If you don't need a SSD (and really, they are dropping fast in price so if you can wait a year then do so) then you can really get whatever configuration of NP8150 or NP8170 you'd like but maybe withhold on the GTX 580 graphics card.

My recommendation for the best bang for your buck would be:
    CPU: i7-2670QM
    RAM:8GB 1333MHz
    GPU: Radeon 6990M
    Hard drive: 500GB 7200rpm (or 750GB 7200rpm)
    OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
Cooling: IC Diamond 7 (it might be a bit pricey but if you don't plan on applying it yourself it sounds very beneficial over the stock cooling)

Then you can choose whatever add-ons you like such as:
    A better quality display (e.g. 95% NTSC or 3D)
    A Blu-ray reader/burner
    Better warranty

With my last laptop, I downgraded from a 17" to a 15". At first it was fine, but I started to miss that big sucker. The next laptop I purchase, I'm going back to 17".

I only used the laptop monitor, so if you're plugging in to an external source, it may be different.

Either the Sager NP8150 or the NP8170 should work perfectly for you.

It would be up to your discretion as to which size laptop you would prefer.

A Core i7-2670QM should be plenty of CPU power for your gaming needs.

The AMD HD 6990M or the GTX580M would be my recommendations as this is your core item used for gaming. Both are excellent graphics cards and I listed both due to the limit of availability and who you go through for your purchase.

8GB of RAM is plenty for your gaming needs, and if you need more later, you can always upgrade that yourself.

I would highly recommend an SSD for your primary drive and getting a standard HDD for your secondary drive.

If you don't plan on watching Blu-Ray movies on your laptop, just stick with the standard DVD drive.

Consider upgrading your wifi adapter if you will be relying on that for your internet connection for gaming.

I would also consider getting the 3 year warranty if budget allows. Sager builds a fine quality laptop but Murphy's law is still in effect.
