I am curious when/if we'll see a Sager/Clevo with a 1440p screen. A 4k would be better still, but I imagine it will be a few years before these become standard in notebooks.

I'd like to buy a Sager gaming computer, thinking of the 9570 desktop replacement, but I'm waiting for Maxwell GPUs. If anyone knows if a 1440p screen might also be in the works I could wait longer still

I don't really need a new machine currently, but once the Oculus Rift consumer version comes out (probably early 2015) I'll be itching to get something new and powerful to drive it. So, any chance I'll see a high res screen by Q1 2015 in a Sager? should the maxwell gpu's be available by then as well?

Bump. I too am interested in this. Friend just got a 4k TV yesterday and DAMN that thing is impressive! Can't wait for higher resolution screens in laptops. I feel like the 1080 standard has been in need of a refresh for a while now. Heck, my old D900K from 2006 was a higher res of 1920x1200.

It would require a higher res 17.3 inch panel being made.

interesting.. I guess no 1440p 17.3" panels exist eh? I know they make 1440p and higher in larger panels, and now new smartphones/tablets in development are coming with 1440p 5-7" screens - the Oculus Rift will be using a phone 1440p panel. I guess the notebook category is getting ignored by the panel makers?

I really would have a hard time going to a 1080p panel after being spoiled with high res displays on large desktop LCD's. I have been using a pair of Dell 2005FPW which are "1680p" for 9 years now!

Looks like all the 3k and 4k monitors in laptops are in 15in models. Why this is the trend is beyond me as its pretty hard to read even with my 20/10 vision. At least on a 17in it would be somewhat useable...but man do I miss WUXGA! Might have to boot the old vostro 1700 up just to reminisce.

4k would be nice in 17.3", same sort of density as the 3k 15.6" panels but you can drop it to 1920x1080 if you want.

Im the sort of guy who wants to use the resolution and not have it be for "texture smoothing". Shame pixel mapping is ruining this fun alot of the time.

A 3k-equipped 15" Clevo would be an insta-purchase for me. I'll be in the market for a gaming laptop later this year and I'm holding my fingers crossed. Seems like these screens don't add that much of a premium to the price, too.

I am all for a 3K or even a 2K 15". It should be time for them to come out especially as an optional display.

Make it a 120hz 1920x1080 ips panel and it would be more practical IMO.

I don't even need a 4k display on a 17.3". I think a 2560x1440 would be a big increase anyways and you wouldn't be hit to bad in FPS so you could still crank the details up in newer games.
