Okay I Bought A Sager 2090 last fall ... and my AC adapter just crapped out on me... the green light doesn't turn on and it makes a weird "beeeeep" ing noise. I don't wont to RMA it, and it takes a while for shipment for a new adapter. I can get a new generic adapter at radio shack, but am worried it will void my warranty? Should I order the model specific or would a generic adapter be appropriate?

I have about 59% power left in the current batteries. But don't want to use the laptop if avoidable... which is a pain.

It's best to order model specific, but call Sager! If the adapter itself is bad, they are usually willing to issue an RMA for the adapter. Ship it to them, they confirm it's bad, you get a replacement. Shipping time is the longest part of the process.

Incidentally, if you ever CAN'T order model specific, make sure you match up every single spec from your current adapter (input voltage, output voltage, wattage, amperage, etc...)

Yeah, thanks. I kinda need the laptop now, so I guess the best thing is going to be try and RMA the part, buy a generic one for now. If I successfully RMA the part, then I'll have the model specific and a spare.

You could also ask your vendor to arrange a cross ship of a new one to you first, and then you can send the dead one back to them in the same box. This way the shipping time is cut in half.
