You don`t need drivers for the hdd . But XP64, as far as I know is not supported by Sager, so I would not sugest it.
Either XP x86 ot Vista 32/64 bit.

your getting bad performance probably due to incorrect or non-stable drivers.

Like eleron said, go XP 32-bit or and Vista.

Yes, XP 32-bit gaming performance still is better than Vista.

    D drive will be safe.
As I said, disable AHCI so that the S-Ata driver won`t be required and the XP disk will recognize the hdd as IDE.Disabling AHCI will make your hdd work under IDE instead of Sata but it`s no biggie.I have it like that since forever and it works perfectly.
Just disable that and it will work.

No. It will BSOD and reboot. You`re fine without it.
Or IF YOU MUST , you can:
1)get a usb floppy and have the sata driver ready
2)slipstream the XP copy with added sata drivers .
Both options are time consuming and pretty pointless.

Actually, if you get a copy of the AHCI driver and nlite, in 20 minutes you will have an XP disc that supports the SATA drive. Not really that time consuming. Possibly pointless, I have not really looked into it. The 20 minutes and 1 CD never seemed like it was putting me out too much, and I am generally a pretty lazy guy.

may not add much but the sata bus is still better than ide imo.
