innital reactions to this notebook are very positive. i thought the battery extending from the back would bother me but its small enough that it doesnt, anyway im looking at the screen more than the back of the notebook. installing LOTRO, COH, Oblivion and will let you know how this handles them soon enough. 8600mGT got a 5.2 on the vista rating scale, high 4's for the rest. let me know if you have any questions.

WOOOO! I'm the first one to tell you that I like your notebook!
-
NICE yup your doing it right keep them coming
-
yeah your doing well so far but theres one thing you forgot to do...
ship it to me -
wow nice and sexy
you mind giving me some M&M's lol, I see the jar in the corner. What was in the small box beside the laptop?
-
I Love the M&M's Jar in the background of the last pic
-
Wow! Very attractive notebook. The thing I like about it is that it kinda looks like the Black Macbook, which I think is sexy aswell. I need to order this now. How about you list the specs of your lappy? Ah yes, and I'm definately interesting about gaming performance. I see you have Oblivion, a game I would love to play when I get a 2090.
-
what are the specs of you 2090
-
If your into it, and it's not too much trouble benchmarks would be nice, and I would like to know about the heat?
-
Can you take a photo of Vista's "Windows Expeirence Rating" page? I'm dieing to see it!
Edit: I see you did give the rating, so its not that important to me after all, lookin smokin' hot! -
any keyboard flex?
-
Since you posted the pictures,
you wouldn't be able to live freely until we receive our 2090s
because you WILL be bothered with tons of questions! lol
It's not that I want to bother you but..
I really have to ask you about the heat and the fans
How are they? -
Congrats on the new notebook.
The pics look great... regardless of the camera quality.
lemme give you my pre-requisites for owning a gaming notebook:
Remember these things to have your notebook be healthy for years:
1) Battery: to maintain the longevity of any rechargeable battery
- you must NEVER overcharge it [especially for long durations of time] by keeping it plugged into AC
- when it reaches 100% you should unplug it and let it discharge to 5-15%, then plug it back to power
- OR you can just charge it to 50%+ and remove the battery and store in cool place.. not the fridge [remember to use it occasionally 3-4 time a year to charge and discharge it].
2.) Heat: to prevent a healthy notebook from overheating
- ALWAYS use the notebook on a hard & flat surface
- RECOMMENDED to be used on a notebook cooler... namely the Zalman ZM-NC1000
- check your fans underneath occasionally (at least once a month) for any dust clogs [clean them out with Q-tips and air cans/compressors]
- ALWAYS monitor the temps (CPU, GPU, HDD, etc..) to watch for fluctuations, which would indicate overheating
By doing these simple things, your entire system will easily last for more than 3 years. -
Gophn do you have that post like saved? any new notebook owner thread I see you post it lol
-
LOL. I have to be as redundant as possible.
I never want to hear some gaming notebook owner [thats comes back in less than a year] whining about their system overheating or the battery cant hold a good charge.
So I will keep on copying and pasting until everyone gets into good notebook care taking habits. -
-
A notebook is only as good as
- the support that comes with it [from resellers/vendors/OEMs]
- and the owner that takes care of it -
LOL nice post Gophn my friend, your very funny, lol. Is that how you got 2978 posts, lmao. Also I'm surprised your not a mod yet, someone please hook Gophn up with mod abilities, as he clearly deserves them, he has even post the clevo guide which he maintains regularly, and he has well over 2500 post, IMO thats enough to get a mod status.

Damn you! I'm so jealous now, I've got to wait weeks for mine.
-
More pictures please.
Also if I buy a Sager off of Powernotebooks.com tomorrow does anyone know when it'll ship and how long it takes to ship? -
maybe 2-4 weeks. Considering there is already a huge amount of preorders. good luck is you decide to make this purchase,
-
Yep, I think I'll be ording one too, I think Syntax Error convinced me first, so Rep points for him, and definately rep points for losthighwayblues for providing first pics.
I'm kind of new here, can I just give out rep points to as many people as I like? -
yup you can give out rep point as you like, COUGH to me COUGH, o sorry throat got a little messy there
-
Gave ya one just for keeping me entertained, especially during the 6 hours that we were waiting on losthighwayblues' np2090 to arive.
-
-
Oh man, I just think this notebook is just perfect for my needs. Doesn't seem to big, heavy, but it packs a mean punch with current games. I'm not terribly interested in future games (got better things to do in college), but this notebook would be excellent for the occasional BF2 or Rome Total War scruffle.
-
So does the 2090 have GDDR2 or 3??
-
wow cant wait for a full review of this beast. it looks sleek black on black just beautiful i gotta get one a these but before i just gotta be further convinced by its gaming results
cheers -
-
losthighwayblues' did you get the TV in it? or no? If you did you mind post some screen shots of some tv feeds from cable, thanks. O Gophn, my bad I though you could give them out as much as you want, guess I'm wrong
-
-
Yeah, I'm curious to know too. Some people just dismiss it while others have it as a dealbreaker that keeps them away from the laptop completely. Which is more true here?
-
For the moment, I'm glad he is not posting right now, that means that he is having so much fun with it that nothing is possibly wrong with it! Only good can come out of this machine
-
The 8600M GT still performs up to par with the previous 7900GS/7800GTX (which had 256-bit mem interfaces and GDDR3).
So it pretty much shows that Nvidia has tremendously improved their architecture of the new Geforce 8M's to have both major performance and with just GDDR2.
This is probably the best thing that most people were waiting for about a year ago... a 7900GS performance GPU for 15.4" notebooks. -
is it 256mb on-board and 256 mb vram or 512mb onbaord?
-
the 512mb should be dedicated... not shared.

Oblivion runs well on high/med-high settings (never realized how stunning a game it is). LOTRO suggested i play it on "high" settings and i was happy to oblige. BF2142 runs pretty well on high, but im keeping it on more medium settings for FPS. COH and TW:Medieval 2 ill try out later tonight. The biometric fingerprint scanner works, now if i could only find out how to properly use it. I have to thank everyone on this forum, youve been a real help. ill do my best to answer your questions. Let me know what else you want pictures of.
-
Awesome how about heat issues ?? wat were the fps u got in bf on high settings?? thanks
-
never had a finger print scanner before but...errr, don't you just kinda swipe it, lol...I have no idea. But someone here said they wanted a pic of the vista scores screen.

to get the scanner working I think theres app, that you type your passwords in and for what application and then when you scan it it automatically works? most biometric scanners are like that
-

wow losthighwayblues i can be your just indulging your yourself now !! by the way if u cud summ this laptop in a sentence what would it be??
-
That's exactly how I would get mine save for the blue tooth adapter and double the hard drive space with a WSXGA matte screen.
-
If I were you lost, I would have changed it 2gb one sodiumm stick not 2, 1 gb sticks, so in the future you can upgrade and not lose money,
-
I can't help but think about if the wsxga screen will be too small for me on a 15.4" notebook. I've always used mostly a 17" desktop that didn't have as good of a resolution so I just have to wonder
