Ok after talking to some of the people at PowerNotebooks.com and looking around on these forums i've gotten that if i order my laptop, a Sager 2090, from on of the resellers tomorrow ill get it some time in the 3rd week of july at the latest.

Im going to an all day debate camp where im going to need to write cases (arguments) right from the beginning and it starts the 21st of July. So time is an issue to me.

Im thinking of getting the laptop from the Sager website itself because it says that they start shipping today. Will the one from the Sager come significant earlier? or will it come at about the same time? If i order one with the specs listed on the site (w/o configuation) will i get it earlier?

i understand that they have terrible customer service but ill be willing to trade customer service for an earlier delivery.

    Thank you in advance!

WHen they say that start shipping today, at best that would mean they ship the first shipment today. As in the people that have preordered and have stock waiting for them. And even then, wasn't that date an estimate or something?

As GlueEater states The quote on Sagers website is correct, but this applies for orders that are already in. New orders are not going to ship for approximately 2 weeks (for WXGA & WSXGA models). Orders that have already been placed for the WXGA screen started shipping yesterday (which is now sold out). My best suggestion is to place the order so you can reserve your spot in line on the next coming shipment. Ordering through a Sager Reseller will get you a few extra perks then going through Sager direct.

Ahh. Thank you for that. Ya i might as well get the better quality service if its going to get here at the same time.

Sorry if this sounds silly, but what perks might those be? I'm thinking about this model (like many here) and am looking for the best place to purchase.

You will get more options when customizing, more personal service and usually better pricing :)

    1. 24/7 DOMESTIC Toll Free Telephone Tech Support (Sager's is only West Coast business hours)
    2. When you buy from a Sager reseller with a good reputation you have an advocate to go to bat for you should Sager not serve you the way they should. If you buy from Sager directly and they don't do it right...who you gonna call?
    3. Better pricing
    4. More knowledgeable and personal sales support
    5. Oh yea, and more options when customizing

The best thing to do is to call them all. Get your questions answered and you will probably know where you want to buy.

So if we haven't gotten an status update, that means we're on the second shipment right? The one that's going to be 2 weeks from now?

Then the best thing to do is contact your reseller on Monday to find out if you got shipped in the first wave.

I'm in a similar situation buddy. I originally ordered a Compal IFL90 but after the delays I got a little spooked. I'm leaving the country the very beginning of August and what happens if something is horribly wrong? So I switched to the Sager with assurances I would be in the next shipment. The sooner the better.

Yeah, erm, don't sacrifice quality for timeliness. Trust me, you'll be happier if you just wait it out and buy the notebook you really want. And buy from a retailer; along with friendlier customer service, retailers tend to offer more affordable warranties as well.
