Ive noticed that every site I check now no longer offers the matte higher resolution screen on the 2090, is this a permanent thing?

Yes, it is probably a permanent. Only time will tell for sure.

I think the high res screen is ( WAS ) one of the best features on the 2090, why would they discontinue it ???

It wasn't voluntary, that screen has been very difficult to get ever since the IFL90 was released.

Not to go to far off topic with this but if they can't get the screens anymore it will very disappointing. Comparing mine with some other 15" screens I feel that mine is the sharpest, most visually appealing. I absolutely love the screen and am very sorry to see that it is so difficult to provide them to customers.

    I agree...TOTALLY!

We have been fighting for those screens all last year. They are the best, and not being able to get them hurts.

I have to agree that the 15.4" CMO1520 WSXGA+ screens are absolutely brilliant. :)

Shame it's a very rare screen, unfortunately. :(

I got the WXGA screen. Can the 8600M handle WSXGA?
I tried a few demos of recent games and it can barely handle WXGA..

I run COD4, OrangeBox, and 2142 all at native with over 30+ fps, granted in COD4 i have to tweak the settings a little but in the other games its just high settings. Also with the WSXGA, you can drop to 1440x900 and raise the AA and not notice a difference. The amount of pixels squished in there makes not running native not as big a difference than say if you were dropping the rez from a WXGA.

Yeah, I'm very glad I got the WSXGA+ screen. Runs most games fine at native, excepting brand new stuff. And even new stuff tends to be fine at native if you turn some settings down.

That's great news Donald! I was planning on buying a Sager NP2090 with a 1680X1050 WSXGA+ MATTE screen and was sorely disappointed yesterday when I heard the news. In fact I was so disappointed that I figured I'd rather just upgrade my current laptop's hard drive until you guys get those screens for the Sager NP2090, even if I had to wait a few months. Of course, you said it would more than likely be permanent, so I may have been waiting in vain, which would have forced my hand to do something, I'm just not sure what. :(

Now that you're offering it on the PowerPro, I'm truly thankful. However, would it be possible to get the Sager NP2090 with the 1680X1050 screen instead of the PowerPro?

I had spoken with you via telephone a couple of months ago and will call tomorrow for further discussion. Heck, I'd even order first thing tomorrow morning paid in full via wire transfer for that screen on a Sager NP2090.

Well, thanks anyways and here's to hopin' the NP2090 will get those screens back before the summer.

JarodSimon, why would you want the Sager NP2090 over the PowerPro J 10:15 when they are the same IFL90, but the PowerPro J 10:15 has the better warranty (3 Years w/Next Business Day Shipping paid both ways - Standard), SATA II hard drives, and Corsair memory (if you want it)?

The only advantage to the Sager NP2090 is if you get Vista you get both 64bit and 32bit media.

I know someone looking at this laptop for some light gaming, and I told them I just don't know anything about the lower resolution screen.. they don't mind lower resolution so long as it's a good quality screen (like for sample Fujitsu I guess). What are people's thoughts?

dont know for sure but there are plenty of reports of light bleeding on the lower res screens. but the cardinal rule for that is the louder ones are usually the minority.

i think all res above 1000 x 700 are fine especially for LIGHT gaming (define the word light if you want a more defined answer haha)

Because when I spoke with you, you said (all things considered) the Sager was cheaper, and since I live in Southern California and the Sager plant is also in Southern Cali, if I ever needed the laptop serviced or repaired, I would get the laptop back just as fast as I would a PowerPro.

You also assured me that the 3 yr warranty on the Sager was just as good as the 3 yr warranty on the PowerPro. Since I was going to be buying the Sager from Powernotebooks as opposed to directly from Sager, Powernotebooks would work with myself and Sager to resolve any issues if any warranty issue were to arise. Essentially, Powernotebooks would work with Sager on my behalf.

As for memory and hard drives, I was planning on getting the standard issue from Powernotebooks, then replacing both with memory and harddrives from online discount retailers, thus ensuring the memory modules match and that I'm getting the 7200 RPM hard drive I want (I prefer the 160 GB Seagate ST9160823ASG) and I understand Powernotebooks offers the AS model, not the ASG model. Yes, I know, I'm picky to a fault. (Since the harddrive on my current laptop died, I suppose I'm paranoid about my new hard drive and thus want the shock/drop protection the ASG series offers).

As for the OS, I will be installing XP Pro on the computer, and so I only need 2-3 gigs of RAM since XP pro doesn't work with 4 gigs. Though I'm not sure what would be better, 2 gigs or 3? I'm leaning towards 3 since faster seems better, but I wonder if that would be analogous to swatting a fly with a nuclear bomb.:confused2:

We spoke for over an hour on a friday afternoon back in November of last year, and I think I drove you crazy with all my questions, you may or may not remember. And please correct me if I'm mistaken on any issues mentioned. Look forward to your response and hopefully purchasing that "sweet screened" laptop.

By the way, any chance of getting the lid without any logo whatsoever (flat smooth lid without an indent), or at the very least a Sager logo as mentioned here? I prefer the Sager logo to the PowerPro logo.

Again, I'm picky to a fault and I apologize, perhaps I'm simply asking too much. Thanks again.

I understand...I think you should consider buying one from RJTech. You can buy the barebones there and then you can use whatever components you want.

Well, I am still planning on getting the IFL90, and I was hoping you would answer the questions in my post, though in fairness I did say I would phone and I didn't get the chance today, my apologies.

If you could answer my questions it would be much appreciated, or would it just be easier if I called?

Again, I plan on buying the IFL90 from Powernotebooks with the WSXGA+ screen and if you could assist me in my purchase that would be great. I want to purchase the lappy before the end of this week so I can get that screen and not lose out on another opportunity to do so.
