    Hi folks,

OK ... I just received my toy Sager NP 2092 ... I am sure I will post a lot of Q's but I wanted to ask this one right away ...

I have installed my XP PRO on it and all the Drivers for the XP that came from Sager on the CD ...

When I called Sager Tech Support and asked him if there is a way to "Turn-On" the Camera on my laptop ... he said "NO".

Now I have managed to turn the camera using "Scaner and Camera Wizard" ... but that is not what I am looking for ... when I had a Fujitsu ... there was an application called "Arcsoft Webcam" ... which when installed left an icon on my desktop when I clicked it it turned on my webcam.

Q1: Does any NP2092 owner know how to do this?

Q2: Is Sager Tech really right that Sager 2092 doe snot have this function!!! If so, why even have a darn webcam!?!?

Q3: Can I use the "Arcsoft Webcam" software and install it on 2092? will it cause a conflict between existing "Scanner and Camera Wizard" and Arcsoft???

BTW, this laptop is Finger Print Magnet ... I am thinking may be HP does buy their Laptop cases from Compal!!!

    Thanks,

    G! :)

you need to download the camera drivers from the sager website, then it will show up as a usb video device under my computer.

there are many programs that will allow you to use the camera to take still pictures and video

    Hi jcovelli,

I had the "USB Video Device" for Digital Camera ... I guess since it said USB and Digital Camera threw me off ... But, I am still wondering why they don't have an ICON like the Arcsoft on Fujitus that you can only activate the Camera portion ... without the editing feature.

    Thanks,

    G! :)

    Hi Z,

Thanks for the tip ... I am going to try it ...

But for everyone's info I found a way around this madness ... if you go to "My Computer" Icon on your laptop and double-click and then double-click on "USB Video Device" within My computer box ... you will get what I wanted ... just to have the Camera activated without going thru taking a picture and so forth.

    Thanks,

    G! :)

amcap does the same thing. open it and just have the preview setting checked.

Well, some people get paint jobs on their laptops, others get fingerprints. It all boils down to customization. :D

And that Sager tech was on another planet when he answered your question. The web cam on the 2092 works in Linux so it sure is going to work in XP.
