    Hello,
So I just got my laptop in from XoticPC last night. I opened it up and starting using it, not noticing anything wrong with the screen whatsoever.
After it sitting on my desk all day today, I get back from work and open the laptop up to see a white line running across the bottom half of my screen. I tried out many different tests to determine what was causing it. Pretty much, the line was visible on top of all applications I opened and was even present at the Sager Bios screen. I tried reinstalling the nvidia drivers to no avail.

At first the line was very solid and noticeable:
    (warning: gigantic pictures)

but now the line is very very faint, very difficult to see:

It has gotten even more faint since I took those picture. To the point that I can only see it if I put a black console window behind it. Even then its pretty faint.

Of course, I plan on sending it in for repair but what I was wondering if these actually are stuck pixels, or if it could be something else. Im also curious to know why it would be so pronounced and fade out so much.

That doesn't look like stuck pixels to me. It looks like either a defect in the screen/GPU producing it, or even a loose connection from screen to motherboard. Stuck pixels are well, a few pixels. A solid line across the screen is probably more likely GPU/connection related. You could try reseating your display connection to see if it may have been loose.

Before you do anything, you may want to contact your reseller directly for advice. Checking the connection isn't tough, but it's not something recommended if you aren't comfortable opening up the machine. It requires getting underneath the keyboard to the LCD connection to the display.

Im comfortable opening up the machine, I just dont really know much about playing with laptops. And yes of course Im going to contact Xotic before I do anything. One question though, if reseating does indeed fix the problem, would it be a permanent fix or would there still be the possibility if the same problem could occur. Pretty much, would anything extra be done if i were to send it in for a repair compared to fixing it myself.

Most often if it is a connection it is not on the motherboard side, it is on the back of the screen. I recommend contacting our service department and they will be glad to help you with this situation. If you decide to inspect the LCD connection you will want to ensure you are first comfortable with doing it and second that remove the battery and be very careful. My suggestion is to set up a RMA as we will send you a UPS 3 Day Label and get this resolved for you. If you accidentally break something it can lead to problems with Sager covering those parts that were accidentally broken.

Rest assured we will get the issue resolved for you. I am sorry to hear this happened with your new purchase.

I swear, if for NOTHING else, this is one reason I'll always suggest Sager resellers. Their warranty. No waiting for a dell technician to find your house/work or waiting for long shipping (international here). If it can be fixed in-house easily, you'll happily, under warranty, help us do it.

    No i did not.

Thank your for the response, I think I will just set up the RMA instead of risking something breaking. One thing that worries me. I have pictures from when the problem could be easily seen, but right now, it is almost completely undetectable. Will that be an issue?

    That is a good question!

If Sager can't reproduce the problem it will be very hard for them to replace a part. Maybe monitor it for a few days and let us know what you think. We can always set up a RMA for it to be checked out. Obviously we don't want to waste your time and have it sent in and they test every part of it and find no problem. Since you just received it, again maybe give it a few days or a week and see if you see any problems whatsoever.

Push the system to its limits and let us know if you see any hiccups in its performance.

We are always happy to help in anyway we can. Remember if you have a problem or a simple question we have 24/7 Telephone Support in the event you have a questions in the middle of the night.

By the way, which screen was this? The stock 1600x900 matte screen, 1080p glossy, 1080p glossy 95% gamut, or 1080p matte 95% gamut?
