Sager 5720 review
Ok I have had time to play with my laptop and feel comfortable with it.
First lets start with the screen. I have the 17" Widescreen WSXGA display. I like it and am happy with my choice. The resolution is great for me. I do mostly applications; gaming is less than 40% of the time.
The actual build of the laptop is solid. I have noticed some keyboard flexing by the backspace area. I have read others have this too, no biggie though. Sager should think about design of the right headphones and USB ports. The cords can get in the way of using a mouse. I usually turn off my keypad and use my mouse.
The processor runs great. I can do many applications and see no noticeable difference, slow down, problems switching between them. I have read that this processor (2.26) is like the equivalent of a P4 3.7/3.8 SWEET!
Built-in 8 Channel HiDef Azalia Stereo Sound SystemHmmm the speakers are weak, so I use a set of additional speakers. I havent actually heard of many using the standard speakers. By 8 channel does that mean 8 channel surround sound? Has anyone connected the lappy to a surround system?
The wireless is fine. I just upgraded the Intel drivers and added a wireless extender to my setup. I get a strong signal through my brick/block house.
The Graphics are jaw dropping. I upgraded the drivers through powernotebooks> support>Sager. My 3d05 benchmark is about 6920 now. Before it was about 6600.
It plays HL2 and the details are amazing. I am expecting Doom3 in the mail this week, and hope to play FEAR over the summer.
I got my laptop through www.powernotebooks.com. Great business! I paid just under $3k for it (I have most of the bells and whistles) with the shipping to my APO box.
Its a brief review and doesnt do the machine justice. I suspect this may be one of the last 5720 reviews since the dual core is coming out soon.

satgale, thanks for sharing your experience with the 5720. It's probably Sager's best model - the design and the performance are wonderful, and the upgraded 5720 with the Core Duo should be equally impressive.
PowerNotebooks.com is the best - I ordered from them too. Couldn't ask for better service. Who was your rep if I may ask? Donald Stratton handled my order, did a great job and my notebook is perfect.
Congrats on your 5720.

I had Ron. He knows so much! He is the one that told me about 3dmark05 and explained the benchmark. Don emailed me an answer to a support question i had.

So one question about the 5720 - how loud is it? Not speaker sound (though I am curious about the sound quality too), but how loud does it run? I am seriously considering the new model Clevo (570U) which is the successor to your I think. My current laptop (also a Clevo, Pentium 4 based) is the loudest thing you have ever heard. Seriously, it can drown out my office servers when running at full tilt. This is/was a major problem for me, and I'd like to make sure I don't have the same problem.
If it is an issue with the 5720 I might have to go with a Dell system, even though I probably can't afford one.

My buddy bought a M170 just a month ago.
1 week later he told me he returned it for a full refund due to various issues he experienced PLUS the horrible customer service he received.
I am guessing you have the older D900T?
The D900 series I have heard is a BEAST in every meaning.
Powerful and loud.
The ONLY reason I am not getting the D900K is I want some sort of portability, battery life, and don't want my laptop to sound like a jet taking off
The upcoming M570U should be great
I have posted a review about it by another site soemwhere here.
AFAIK It is very similar to the M570A with the difference of having the ability to have 4GB RAM, 7900GTX or X1800XT Vid Card choice, and the Core Duo.
So it would be a great thing to get the M570U as I have heard AWESOME Reviews about the M570A.
Of Course if you do not need the upgraded stuff from the M570U, the M570A should be a sweet deal as many resellers are giving a great rebate on it now
