    hello.

I'm considering buying a sager notebook (either a 5760 or 9750) and was wondering what people thought about them.

I'd be using mine for gaming, school, and a bunch of other random things of course. It will also be my main computer. Most of the time it will be left plugged in.

Is there a big between the Intel Core Duo and the AMD X2 processor? I know that the AMD X2 was a desktop processor, personally I've always liked AMD. How do other's feel about it?

Also, on the 5760 the video card can be a GeForce Go7900, where the 9750 has the 7800. Is there a big difference between the two?

It looks like it's going to be a bit pricey either way I go, but hopefully it will last me for a while.

    Thanks in advance

Both will be fine computers. The AMD and Intel issue is constantly debated. While the C2D is the better processor (benchmark-wise, heat/power use) either will be more than powerful enough for most applications. The turion x2 is a mobile chip.

The 7900 is newer than the 7800--the performance on both cards is good, however the 7900 uses a little less power. What level card are you looking at ? (gs,gtx?)

Either one should have you set for gaming for quite some time.

i searched for many weeks before I settled with my sager. good job doing back up research!

the sager will leave you VERY happy. the only thing i dont like--- finding a good 17 notebook case is tough! you will be very happy with your purchase....a good built sager is better than most desktops :)

I have a Clevo D900K (a.k.a. Sager 9750), its definitely a beast, both in performance (AMD Athlon X2/FX-55,57,60/Opteron) and build.

Technically I would have gotten a Core 2 Duo if it existed in March, but since there were no better options, I got this and built it.

I dont know where you think that the Sager 9750 only comes with a 7800 GTX, but the notebook can get upto nVidia 7950 GTX.

Its probably more worth it to get the Sager 5760 (Clevo M570U), because it does outperform the current K8 AMD CPUs.... and it should give more mileage down the line. Not to mention that it should save you a significant amount of money.

    Its definitely a superior machine.

So you think that the 5760 with the intel core duo would be the better choice?
Also thanks for the replies guys :)

I agree with Gophn. I think the 5760 would be the best bang for the buck right now for you.

Yup the Clevo M570U (a.k.a. Sager 5760) is the way to go.

Definitely the best for the money (around $2500+ budget)

I got my 5760 from Powernotebooks.com and the customer service was great. They even handled the repair work when the vid card went screwy. They contacted and setup everything. All i had to do was give Sager my return shipping address and send it off. Great service and Ron(my salesperson) was cool. He answered all my stupid questions and even helped me find the cheapest way to ship it since i was @ a PO Box at that time and they couldnt ship to a PO Box.

You got many options to buy Clevo notebooks, here are my favorites (in the order of my preference):

    ALL US-based resellers:
    PowerNotebooks.com
    Hypersonic-PC.com
    RJtech.com
    Pro-Star.com

Powernotebooks got the best service and support.
Hypersonic-PC has good testing and configs for the money & ships internationally.
RJtech does not re-brand any notebook, so the prices are more appealing
Pro-Star is another good option that is comparable to Sagernotebook.com
