This isn't going to be much of a review really. So many people have reviewed them that if you are thinking of buying one it should be a no-brainer. I'd like to just toss my hat into the ring by saying I really like mine so far. I got it 5 days ago and have yet to have a single issue.

I ghosted this site for about 5 weeks. I read every review I could get my hands on and tried to read between the lines with everything people said to learn exactly what I needed to learn to buy a laptop. I started knowing nothing about them to being able to speak with experts and hold my own.

My experience with Discount Laptops was great. I had initially planned on doing their secured cash discount plan but my bank strenuously warned me against it. As it is, my laptop arrived quickly and in great shape.

I'm still not sure if I did the right thing skipping the bluetooth card but from all I've heard I can bluetooth to it easily later.

Everyone comments on how beautiful the screen is and the keyboard is comfortable enough. I use ergonomic keyboards as straight ones make my carpal tunnel act up. That's really a personal thing though and no laptops come with the ergonomic keyboards. The system generates very little heat and I play with it sitting in my lap at night. The battery only lasts an hour but I have been playing Dungeon Seige II so it really shouldn't be a surprise.

I was able to hook the whole system right up to my wireless network and share folders with no trouble. I had Windows installed in it when I bought it so I'd have no trouble upgrading to Vista when it comes out. Microsoft is getting really strict with non-approved copies of windows these days so I highly recommend getting legal if you weren't before. cough cough. 8)

My one disappointment is that I received a laptop bag for my birthday and spent a lot of time picking it out. It said it would fit a 17" monitor but when I went to put it in it wouldn't fit. The little bit at the front with the LCD panel kept it from zipping shut. I don't know which brand of bag I bought but I will be returning it. I'll let everyone know how that goes. I definitely do not want a backpack.

I still plan to buy an Acer 20" widescreen LCD monitor and a laptop cooling stand for it as well. While I love the screen, I can't type on the keyboard (see above) and having it open and then a keyboard in front of it just uses too much space. I'd love to hear what others have done.

So, in conclusion, I'd like to thank Matthew at Discount Laptops for his great service. Mostly though, I'd like to thank Chaz, Killim and the readers of this message board for teaching me how to make an informed purchase that I can feel comfortable with for many years to come.

    Best wishes!

Congratulations on the laptop. DiscountLaptops is a great place from all I am hearing.

Yes, it is generally easy to add the internal Bluetooth aftermarket - they sell the module for $55 + shp.

    Enjoy the machine,
    Chaz

Congrats! I did exactly the same as you did before ordering. Great laptop.

As for the case, I got the case from Eurocom but I like the top loading ones better. I've settled on the Targus Citygear LosAngles. So far I like it. But I also had an eye on the miami. The LA offers a little more storage room than the Miami. They can be bought dirt cheap @ Amazon.
