I have a Sager 5760-c that I bought 2 years ago used. It lasted me for a long time and I was very happy with this laptop. But one day someone left the laptop on a couch armrest, and it overheated and killed the video card, I believe.

Computer starts up, but the screen has pink hue lines, and once windows tries to start safe mode or not, it goes to a blue screen of death and restarts. It's a year past warranty, and I figure I have nothing to lose by trying to replace the video card myself. I have the 7900GTX and it looks like I can upgrade to the 7950GTX. After looking on ebay, it seems I may be able to get one cheap as I don't have the money for a cheap laptop atm. The thing I have to ask is the 7950GTX's on ebay the heatsink goes 2 ways, rather then mine that just goes to main fan. It looks like it may not fit in mine witht that 2nd short tail piece. What should I do?

My 7950GTX also died. The problem is Sager/Clevo used a properitary connection in these laptops. You can ONLY use a video card made specifically for this laptop (Sager NP5760/Clevo M570U). So, unless it is specifically stated that the card is for this model, I would be wary.

If you do get one, I reccomend underclocking/undervolting it in order to keep it running cool. The forums here have some excellent guides on this matter.

Sager and Xotic PC want somewhere north of $500 for a replacement of the 7950.
