I just ordered mine on Monday as well with nearly the same specs (mine has the TV tuner in place of the bluetooth) I am just excited as you are with my purchase. Good luck with your purchase. With any luck I'll get mine before you and brag about it to drive you nuts
-
lol the suspense is killer jeez
-
Congrats to you both. You won't be disappointed.
-
so far very impressed and excited heh great people there ... received a pm here a email and a voice mail on my phone from Justin at xoticpc to confirm the order and notify me that the shipping needed to be upgraded to be able to ship to PO box was really glad that i called to verify that instead of them just shipping it and it not making it here Thanks Xotic!

congrats on the new beasts.
I remember waiting for mine.
it feels like a kid opening a present that knows there is a cool toy that they have been wanting. -
Same spec as mine
The wait is well worth it. I'm starting to regret ordering the glossy screen though, after an hour or so my eyes are feeling the strain. -
congrats, and i hope you wont need to send back to sager soon
-
ive seen your posts and if you hate sager so much why post in there threads? just throwing gas into he fire imo

I love mine... this 5760 is sweet.. about the same specs as mine... didn't get the TV tuner but thats ok.. I use the blue tooth with my cell phone.. I have also migrated to Vista 64.. Experience so far is very good.. not one blue screen or random reboot.. Making programs work on Vista 64 hasn't been too much trouble. Best tip if you ever get vista is to install DX9 so you can run all them games that just have to have some DX9 DLL.
anyways sidetracked.. Congrats on the new system.. You will love the new system.. I'm glad I didn't wait for Santa Rosa as it's not that revolutionary, main difference is FSB but still uses the same ram speed. -
ya i got it with vista 64 bit installed already. have you ran any games? had any trouble with getting them to work?
-
Hi,
Anyone can tell me which firewire chipset use the 5760's
Thanks a lot!! -
I'm really close to ordering this laptop, but there is one thing stopping me.. the lack of directx 10.
I know the 5760RU will have the capability to switch out the video cards. I was wondering if anyone (especially the knowledgable Gaphn) could explain how that works, and if it is possible with the current 5760?
Thanks -
Pretty much the all of the High-end gaming notebooks from Clevo have modular videocards. Its about 4 screws to remove. Pretty straight forward.
The design has just changed (for the better) in the newer models [D900C and M570RU] because they have shown it to be upgradeable to high-end DX10 cards when they become available.
So up until the new models, all of the current and previous Clevo's can upgrade up to (last generation module):
- NVIDIA 6800, 7800GTX, 7900GTX, 7950GTX
- ATI X800, X1600 -
Thanks for the quick response, but I'm still confused.
Does this mean the current 5760 can not be upgraded to a DX10 card later? -
I hope it will be possible to upgrade with a dx10 card.
I have also a question (hoping it isn't in a wrong thread): Do ya have problems with the dvd player (the hardware itself)? When i play movies or when i start a game from the dvd player my soundcard is making strange sounds. For example: If i copy a DVD to the harddisk i can't play music because it's been streaming very slow. Also i get 100% cpu usage of the first core. Even moving the mousecursor isn't a easy job because it goes very slow. -
Worst case what'll happend is maybe an upgrade possibility, but definitely not for a 8800; power and heat dissipation are too different. So even though they make a DX card compatible with the slot in the 5760, it will probably be slower than the 7950gtx.
-
Hopefully Clevo will release a mid-high end DX10 card (like 8600 Ultra or 8700) for the current-gen notebooks... but that is still doubtful.
Only time will tell. -
100% CPU usage for casual use is a RED FLAG for software issues (usually malware, and/or resource hoggers) -
Now I need to debate on weather its worth it to wait for the RU and DX10. I know Clevo hasn't released any solid information yet, but would the 5760RU cost the same as a current 5760 or would it be in the 3 grand range?

I would recommend Media Player Classic, if you haven't tried it yet.
As for the 100% of CPU usage when copying/ripping DVDs to HDD, that can occur if you have an Anti-Virus on... which scans (on the fly) the files that are being copied.
Sager 5760 on its way!
