For whatever reason speedstep is not working on my new machine. It is always at the highest clock speed. I am using notebook hardware control ( http://www.pbus-167.com/) to monitor and i have also tried pc wizard 2007 ( http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php).

    Specs
Mainboard : Clevo Co. SANTA ROSA CRB
    Chipset : Intel M965
    Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 @ 2400 MHz
    Physical Memory : 2048 MB (2 x 1024 DDR2-SDRAM )
Video Card : Nvidia Corp NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX
Hard Disk : Hitachi (100 GB)
    DVD-Rom Drive : TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L632D
    Monitor Type : LGPhilipsLCD - 17 inches
Network Card : Intel Corporation Intel Corporation
Network Card : Realtek Semiconductor RTL8168/8111 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC
Operating System : Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.01.2600 Service Pack 2
    DirectX : Version 9.0c (September 2006)

Any thoughts on why it wouldn't be working correctly?

    What do you mean?

Does the CPU speed stay low for basic or idle usage.... then throttles up when it is needed?

    Because thats normal.

If you switch the NHC setting to Max Peformance, it will runt he CPU at full speed (which bypasses the Speedstep).

But by default, NHC should be set to Dynamic Switching

NHC is set to dynamic switching, but it is constantly around the 2.4Ghz level, it doesn't throttle down at all. Though from everything i have read this may be a problem with NHC being able to read correctly.

pc wizard 2007 shows it go down to around 1500mhz when idle, and then increase to 2400mhz when the processor is being used. does this sound more accurate?
