Hey guys, having my first real problem with my laptop here.

I was just doing my normal thing, playing a game and the laptop randomly shut off (power went off). At first I shrugged it off, but its done this 4 times now within the past hour. Looks like it's time to call it in for a check-up?

Does it happen only while doing cpu nd gpu intensive tasks??

-Could indicate an overheating prob(did u check the temps?)
use this to measure temps! - http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php

if ur gpu is getting overheated, it'll shut down the notebook to prevent damage to ur system! :)

If thats the case then u need to open it(u can also do it w/o opening) and blow some compressed air through the heatsink vents, fans too if they're dirty!! :)

in case this isnt the prob then there might be power issues -

-is the battery connected while gaming??(power from wall socket!)

This happened while playing a game of mine, Final Fantasy 11, so perhaps that may have been the case. I double checked the inside of my laptop and dusted it out a bad, so I'll take a look at that link you gave me to monitor my temperatures and see if that may have been the problem. I'm not really in the know about what's considered hot or not, but what kind of bad temperatures should I be looking out for?

for the gpu, anything above 98C is dangerous...for CPu anything above 80C is harmful

Laptop cpu's post penryn are rated to 105C, so above 80 isn't a problem, but over 90 is getting close
