I just got my Sager 5791 and noticed that the fingerprint reader is not working in Firefox is there a work around for this? I can't stand using Explorer and this would be a useful little feature

Most finger print readers are not friendly to non MS Browsers. There is a Firefox extension that allows the Microsoft fingerprint reader to work, but I believe it is very buggy and not very secure (the extension can be uninstalled to bypass the fingerprint reader) and specific to Microsoft fingerprint scanners only. This seems to be a point of frustration for many FF users. I am very loyal user of Firefox so I am disappointed that this issue doesn't seem to get much attention.

Yeah.. as Danny said, there is no current (good) way to have the fp reader on the 5790 work with the browser we know and love.. mozilla firefox. But, there is a silver lining to this... at least you will be able to better remember your passwords! :)

Yeh I know but I kinda enjoyed being able to just swipe my finger to log into windows and for passwords. It is just irritating that they don't support Firefox...

That's wierd. I have the fingerprint reader on my 5790 and it's working perfectly in Firefox and IE. All I did was go to my hotmail page, enter my user name and my password, then swipe my finger on it. Then it tells me my data has be stored and now all I need to do is click the hotmail page and swipe my finger and it will automatically log me in. I didn't install any other programs on it other than the original program which XoticPC already installed on mine since I ordered Win XP Pro with my lappy.

I am using Vista 64 so that may be part of the the problem.

When I upgraded my Firefox to 2.0.0.8 this morning, it added support for password bank. The fingerprint reader on my Sager 5791 is now working with Firefox!!!
