So I have found out that I cannot afford the 5797 w/ the 280 gtx like I had originally thought. I just pre-ordered the 5793 w/ a 2.1 penryn processor, 4gb ram, 9800m gts card and I just want to know how it will perform against the 260/280 gtx. The total was right around 1400 and I just want to make sure I am making the right decision. It has a nice blu ray drive and everything w/ good resolution and seems to meet all my needs. I just want to make sure it does well when gaming.
-
Is the graphics card upgradeable in the future? And the processor? I originally wanted the 15.4" w/ the 9800m gts but seen the 5797 and switched. I play all kinds of games but mostly eq2, cod games, rainbow six and some of the rpg games. I just need to make sure this one performs at high/max settings for the most part.

i think the sager 8662 is on preorder for 1.4k with gtx260m, dunno bout taxes or shipping

What is the performance gain for the 260 over the 9800? Will the 9800 even play games like I want it too?
-
the 9800M GTS is still the bang for the buck high-end mobile card... since it still performs near the 9800M GT (by ~5%)... which is slower than the 9800M GTX by ~10%. -
So you think for the games that I play they will still look nice ont he laptop and not choke up? Will this notebook take the new montevino processors? can I upgrade the video card?
-
the Clevo M570RU (a.k.a. Sager 5793) has a Santa Rosa platform:
- its CPU will top out at a dual-core X9000.
As for videocard upgrades, its still using the same MXM slot as the newer models so the videocards should still be able to fit....
... however, it will be up to Clevo to give BIOS updates for the notebook to fully recognize new/upcoming videocards.... if needed. -
Awesome, thank you for your help w/ this.

I have to disagree with Gophn this time. Games I had like Crysis, COD4, COD5, Fry cry 2, Rainbox six: vegas 2 won't go over 30fps unless I lower the res to 1680 or 1440. I have the 8800m gtx, which is even faster than the 9800m gts.
-
So you think the 8662 is a better deal for me performance wise? I just want to make sure I get the best deal for my money.
-
Well no ones have seen the GTX260M in real life performance yet, maybe Gophn have special connection, but until it came out, all the thoughts on this forum are pure speculations.
-
Ok, on paper it should be better/faster than the 9800m gts i think. I also just got accepted in to grad school so I am thinking that the 15" may be easier to lug around lol Justin is going to hate me, i have changed my mind like 3 times or so thus far. Is the 9800 gts really that bad in performance?
-
Oh mind you my 5793 is so big that I had to bought a 12" tablet to lug around instead.
-
I put an order in for the 15.4" w/ the 260. It may benefit me more overall I think. Hopefully it isnt too hard to cancel a paypal order.
-
-
I will be, I have the 1500 bucks for one. With this one coming in April (wish I had an exact date) it will allow me to get some of the extras.
-
You'll be happy with the 5793, still the best bang for the buck out there !
Had mine a little over 1 month.
Loaded on mine :
Mass Effect
Assassins Creed
Bioshock
Crysis
The Witcher
Runs them all at high or near, just fine ! -
yeah I have all weekend to figure out since xotic isnt in this weekend. It is tough because I dont necessarily need it right now. I have until the middle of April which is when class starts.
-
but I am def leaning towards the 15.4", I am just way too excited and wish I could have it now but...I will try to learn this patience thing. Hopefully canceling a payment through paypal is not a huge pain.

Yeah, I just really want to get a laptop lol I really hate being pinned down by the desktop. I think regardless of the reviews of the 260 I will go forward w/ the 8662

Nvidia has a habit of simply REBADGING their video cards, especially in the notebook arena. For Example the 8800 and 9800 series........REBADGED no difference.
Now the 260 is a different type of architecture........at least in the desktop world. I am somewhat skeptical in the notebook world.
The bottom line: do not make conclusions about the 260's performance without something more than opinions to back it up and remember that nvidia is famous for rebadging and calling something "nextgen".
I too am looking at the 5793 since its a bargain compared to the 5797.
Nvidia is using their MXM module so theoretically it is possible to upgrade the 5793 with a better video card down the road but as with any laptop ( laptops do not follow a standardized form factor which is why parts are often expensive and aftermarket video card upgrades are VERY expensive).
Personally, I am going to get the 5793 model. Its a bargain at around 1500 bucks. Either way you will be happy.......just a price consideration.
Let me know what you buy, I am interested in hearing your thoughts about the laptop. -
oh seriously now, you people!! cannot lug a few extra pounds? you people make 17 inch laptops sound like you are trying to lug Fifty pounds around.

Clevo has not released a bios supporting the 9800M GTX and is very unlikely to release one to support the GTX260M /GTX280M as it could hurt the sales of their newer models.
