    Hi Guys,

How you set your machines to run high end games? Im new to vista and laptop gaming so im feeling kinda lost. Sorry for the laundry list of questions, if these have already been covered can you link the thread?

I just got the new drivers version 180 or something like that and i have windows power set to high performance.

Do you set the nvidia contral panel to custom settings or let the application decide?

Do you use vertical sync in games. I go back and forth on this one. Sometimes it seems to help and other times it lowers framerates.

Do you use 1650 res to game? I have been going down to 1440. 1650 seems to have lower frame rates. Im not sure whats better 1650 with medium settings or 1440 with max settings. I need to get fraps to really test it out and see how it runs.

I got nvidia ntune 6.03 (i think thats the latest) to overclock my card. Do you recommend overclocking and what settings do you use?

Thanks again and sorry for all the questions!!

Some games let you adjust the AA and AF in-game, but for those that don't you can use the Nvidia control - go to the "manage 3d settings" screen, then click the "program settings" tab and you can adjust the settings for individual games.

It really just depends on how noticeable the tearing is. In a game like UT3 it's extremely noticeable so I use it. FYI you probably shouldn't worry about getting anything over 60fps...the laptop has a 60hz refresh rate so the human eye can't recognize anything above 60fps...I think.

I've basically just been maxing everything out and I haven't had any problems. You may not have noticed, but games get blurry when you lower the resolution...it will always look best at the native resolution (1680x1050).

I'm still trying to figure this one out myself :D

    Thanks for the info!

i just got fraps and have been getting around 30-45 fps in fast action. Everything is runnign great and super smooth.

Let me know if you figure out the whole overclocking thing. Im hell bent on getting 60 fps for every game!! (excepy crysis :( )

the only game I've tried so far that doesn't run very well on the 5793 is Supreme Commander...probably because it's such a memory hog

The reason supcom doesn't work very well is because it is hugely processor intensive. Even my OC'd x9000 struggles with it after a few hrs. The simulation thread is just crazy processor/memory intensive
