Im using the bundled Cyberlink Powerdvd to play my blu-rays on the laptop but is there any way to see if its playing in 1080p Quality? Im not sure if its even possible on the laptop, im pretty ignorant to the high def side of things. Thanks for all the help.

Welcome to the NBR forums.
well if you have a WUXGA screen (1920x1200) and a blu-ray drive, then you are set to get the full quality of the 1080p movies.
you can check the Properties of the movie (while its playing in the player)... or show Information.
you should see the resolution of the movie. -
Thanks for the reply. I clicked on properties and it shows video info on the screen which includes the type of video (mpeg-4 i think it said) and the bit rate that its playing at but not if its on 1080p or not. i am using the high res monitor but it just looks like its not playing at full HD. Thanks again for any help with this. Loving the laptop so far. Go sager and all that jazz.

Well.... just by starting the movie, is the picture already filling up the entire screen without you going into full screen mode?
if so, then its definitely 1080p since PowerDVD plays the movie as the actual resolution of the source when its in Window mode, then stretches it when in Full screen mode. -
No when i start the movie its still in windowed mode. i looked on the back of the movie and it does say 1080P. Ill post specs if that helps at all.

I know its starts at a window mode.
I mean.... when it starts "in the window mode" the picture should still fill up the screen.
Here's how you know, go play the main movie, and take a snapshot using Power DVD's "Capture Frame" feature by pressing C.
then look at the picture that was saved, it should be 1920x1080. -
when i was trying to find the way to capture images to test this i stumbled upon this in the help topics. " This button is not available during the playback for Blu-ray Disc titles."
it was referring to the capture button. Any other way to go about this ? When i do start the movie though it starts in windowed mode but is not filling the screen. it shows the move in a window in the middle of the screen about 1/3 full screen size. -
dont worry about it, if the movie says its 1080p, then it is.

I think the important question is, how good does it look to YOU?

just double click on the video screen to enlarge to full screen
