I am unfamilar with Sager notebooks and have been considering the 5793.

I have used Dells and Toshibas until now and usually own each for 2 to 3 years. During these times, I have yet to encounter a single problem that required sending the laptop in for repair. I am curious if one can expect the same from the Sager 5793.

What is the reliability with Sager typically like, especially the 5791, 5792 and 5793 series?

Also, do you recommend the 3 year extended warranty? If one were to opt out on the warranty, does Sager offer the purchase of the extended warranties at a later date? If so, is it more expensive to do so?

The 579x series are well built and reliable. I use it every day, take it with me in pretty much any place I need it and it`s awesome.
It packs a lot of power without sacrificing the mobility too much.
I recommend the 3 year warranty with anything that costs more than 1500$ , since it`s a big investment.
Although it may never break or have issues,a warranty is your best friend.
Look at XoticPc.com and PowerNotebooks.com for the best Sager resellers and whom will provide you with personal support , one of the best arround. If you`ll call them or use the LiveChat feature, you`ll talk to a real person who can answer any questions.
    I cannot recommend the 5793 enough :)

most retailers give you 30 days to buy a warranty if not chosen at time of machine purchase; however, it is retroactive to the date of machine purchase or shipping- or something like that. :p
