I tried installing windows xp x64 on my brand new Sager 5793 from xoticpc, however the setup program said it could not detect a hard drive (However bios does detect the HDD). I called tech support and they said there was no driver support for xp x64, but that shouldn't have anything to do with setup detecting the drivers.

Is there any way to get xp x64 bit working? I don't think I will be able to return this, so I'll have thrown 150$ away and then have to buy vista 64 bit.

you need to slipstream the SATA drivers into your XP x64.

Or disable AHCI in the BIOS

By the way, XP64 is not supported by Sager.
And drivers are pretty scarce, if you have Vista, I sugest using that + SP1.
