How do you think, will this machine be very hot?If yes, will cooling pad help at all?
-
I'd say it's cool as a cucumber. Although this machine can sometimes be a bit on the loud side, hot it's not!
On a flat surface (no cooler, no elevation) playing the Crysis demo on max settings for a few hours, nothing even got noticeably warm except for the right palm rest. Even that only got a tad warm.
I have the T9300 CPU, 8800m GTX and 7200RPM 200GB Hard Drive. -
Really?!Could never imagine that. How loud then?
-
I have very good hearing and I would say it's somewhat loud but definitely not uncomfortable or anything.
None of my friends and family even cared when they were sitting a few feet away while I was playing.
Other thing is the fans sometimes go off and on during light use - again, I'm not bothered by it and there is also a fan firmware update that helps with that. Keep in mind, the fans also aren't going on high when this do this.
Overall, the main thing I have hated about using laptops is the poor cooling/heat build up - I have no worries here -
I hope so since I just ordered pretty much the same spec set-up myself!
I am also new here and have been looking into a Clevo notebook for a long while now! Glad I found this site its been great in helping me chose what to go with! -
nice build..that's the sweet spot I think for the 5793, an 8800, getting the 4 gigs (2for free) along with the T9300. When you look at the pricing, it's the perfect amount for what they're asking.
-
It's not the loudest laptop I've ever used (Inspiron 9100 holds that honor) but it's definitely something to think twice about taking to class or the library. It's designed for gaming in environments that the noise is not much of a problem. It's a given for LAN parties, that's for sure.
-
yes it is very "hot"........as sexy
-
Hot as Nirvana`s avatar, and cool as an ice machine!
-
That sums it up!
-
LOL!!
you can't get enough of that avatar, and either can I! Nirvana won't give it up though, so I'm not even gonna ask -
truth always hurt.
-
Dude,I`ve asked him on 4 different threads, and even PMed him.
It`s either a girlfriend of some sort of asian Angelina Jolie.
Which reminds me, the 5793 is what a friend of mine called the sexiest laptop he ever saw
That made me shed a tear of emotion lol . -
well, I'm pretty sure it's a car show model, so it's probably a random chick we're never going to see again....
-
I don`t know.My personal weakness is a tall,dark asian girl.
I said the same thing about notebooks. And I have the sexyest 17 inch non SLI notebook out there.
So the cause is not lost just yet
Nirvana,care to alleviate the tension ? -
-
I can go for short. But for short periods of time. I`m 6.3 and 220 pounds.
My arm is probably as big as her waste. Still, asian mmm.
I guess that`s why Clevo is asian -
he must have a whole cache of pictures laying around
-
Just waiting to tick us off
Say Nirvana, how are that chicks` pictures on your 5793 1920x1200? -
@eleron911, you will need to fly to korea in order to do so -
Korea? that might sound like an idea, but I don`t think my gf/future wife would aprove lol.
Still, a bachelor party might do ..
Kinda reminds me of Sailor Moon lol.
The only thing that I can think off so that my post won`t be completely off topic is that my 5791 could sure use a break,I`ve been running it for 21 days straight.
How are you guys doing? On/off after use? -

Yeah, the heat from the right palm rest actually comes from the HD, If you get the 200gb 7200rpm momentus, expect just a bit of heat here, but the truly funny thing is that the momentus is the hottest part in my laptop... right now CPUID Hardware Monitor says, Core 2 Duo T9300: 32c, 8800M GTX: 46c, ST9200420AS(Seagate Momentus): 51c.... rofl, the HD could use a bit of airflow itself, just like the cpu and gpu.
-
The hdd runs from 0 to 60C on a regular basis.
Mine hovers between 45 and 50 , and goes to 57C max when doing downloads ,watching movies and performing disk checks(in the same time).
Granted it`s a 5400 rpm one,but temps might differ with 1-2 C. -
Same here. My HDD (120GB Seagate 7200RPM) is the hottest part in the NB. Its always somewhere between 45 and 51 degrees. The right palmrest gets quite warm, but not hot.
Though the specs say 60 degrees is still ok for a HDD, I read several times that its better to keep it between 40-45 degrees or lower, because HDDs tend to die pretty fast. I am no IT-technican, so I wouldn`t know wheather its true or not...
Paendrag -
I already arrive 60° several times.....Just bad Experience....

I saw my Momentus at 62 for a brief moment one time, I have caught it on 61 a few times. I run DTemp on system boot, very nice program, I'm reading 50 right now
-
Mine is never getting past 55C unless I`m dwl`ing something from many many sources, and run a virus scan and some defragger and listen to music and ...and.
Well, it`s a stinky 120 5400rpm fujitsu.
0-60C are the normal operating temps. Above that, not good. -
I have been browsing around and seems no ones really talked about it. does the right side of palm rest on your
5793 stay warm constantly? both CPU and GPU stay around 40C usually so i have no idea why that particular area get so warm. -
Sometimes, its rather rejuneviating though
-
thats where the hdd is it is just under that area..
-
Oh, thats why Thx Z
btw nirvana, congrats on 500 posts! -
what alienware technology do you think thinkpad used to keep their palm rest area so damn cool?
edit: lol thanks hkman, didn't see that coming -
i placed a piece of dynamat extreme above the hdd on a piece of thin film to test the temps and with that you barely know the hdd is there but im not sure if it will cause the hdd to overheat so i took it out for now..
-
Yea,that is where the HDD resides and at anything above 45C you will feel it. But nothing to worry about, it got to 57C on mine and didn`t bother me.
-
Yea I've noticed it... after a few hours of Crysis last night I had to type out a document and wow it was warm!
Should be nice in the winter though!!! -
Not only the HDD is In that zone, the northbridge and the CPU are there too.
Being the chipset cooler passive, its normal that the heat rise In that area. -
trust e though the most heat producing thing there and i mean right there directly to the right of the touch pad is the hdd. when i had the dynamat piece in there the palmrest barely fealt warm at all.. almost still cold to the touch..id say 90% of the heat that you actually feel there is from the hdd..the northbridge is more under the keyboard area..
oh yeah im making a active northbridge cooler...ill post info up when im done. -
what about video card?
Is it gonna be hot when I play Crysis or COD? -
I've played Crysis for a few few hours straight... again... this morning and the only part that I feel any heat from is on the right side of the touch pad (HDD) area and it's not bad honestly. I have a Rosewill laptop cooler that I use that works great, but honestly I've never noticed any heat issues with or without the cooler.
-
thx Akakios
I am considering this monster right now, but afraid I am gonna need a cooling pad... -
You won`t need a cooling pad, the 579x is if not the most, but one the coolest running laptops in the 17 inch factor.
Temperatures will never be a problem if oyu clean the dust every month or 2.
Don`t worry, this laptop is awesome in all considerations. -
I don't think a cooling pad is mandatory. As I said, when playing the crysis demo for a few hours, I noticed no heat problems at all. I just had my 5793 on a flat surface (desk).
-
Thx everyone.
Heat, so far, was my primary concern. Now, my psychological need for this miraculous laptop together with your comments have probably justified buying it... -
the right palm right gets warm easily, not very warm but its annyoing since I need to be on computer 6+hrs a day
-
Do you have the 7200 RPM seagate?
-
not sure the brand but yes 7200rpm
-
Sager 5793 is it gonna be hot?
