I just received my new 5793 today. I have been downloading games all week waiting to get it only to find that its working below standards.

First i boot up the laptop and the fan is making this horrible noise. I took off the bottom panel and found out its the video card fan. Its making a noise that it should not be making. I called sager and they are sending me a new fan to replace it. THis is not a big deal since its something that can be swapped out pretty easily.

The big issue i have is everything is running ridiculously slow!!!! All installs take forever and even simple task in windows take a long time to open and run. This is my first vista exp so maybe thats how it is, but it doesnt seem right.

Whats this vista system rating thing? It says my machine is only rated at a 2.0 and all the new games are rated around 5.0. From everyones reviews on these forums it says this machine can run the games at max settings but vista is telling me im below the system requirments.

Any advise is greatly appreciated i want to keep this laptop and cant go through another waiting period if i have to send it back. Hopefully its a driver thing or somthing!

your system should score 5.0+ (your proc probably being the lowest score). What scores 2.0 for you?

    bck2826,

you should do some benchmarks (3DMark06, PCMark05 / Vantage, HDtune) and post the screenshots of them to help us figure out what the issue might be.

Here are the common software issues that could make it slow:
    - you must be plugged into AC power to enable full performance for gaming
    - make sure you are using latest and stable videocard drivers (either from Sager or from laptopvideo2go forums)
    - the "Windows Power Options" and/or "Nvidia Control Panel" should be switched to Max Performance
    - disable the resource hogs going on in the background
..... disable Aero Theme, disable anti-virus suites, disable Drive Indexing, etc...

For some of us here who aren't that laptop savvy what exactly is drive indexing and how can i disable it?

And one other thing i thought the default video drivers coming with the 5793 were good enough?
The reason i ask is because i'm also expecting my system soon, and just hope I'm not as disappointed as the op :(

    to disable Drive Indexing:
    - right click on the C: Drive > go to Properties
    - on the bottom, UNCHECK the "Allow Indexing Service...."
    - hit OK and choose to apply to all files/folders
.... chose Ignore all if it asks anything.

    the other way is.

Or you can just go to START > RUN
    - type: services.msc and press Enter
    - then go to and double-click on Indexing Service
    - click the Stop button
    - and choose the Startup Type in the drop-down menu to Disable
    - then hit OK.

your right it was just showing me the lowest score, it was desktop graphics at 2.0. I changed the power setting to performance and now the overall is 5.1.

    Thanks for the tip!!

Just one more noob question. I downloaded drivers from the laptop2video site. Do i have to remove my old drivers first or will the new ones replace it?

when upgrading videocard drivers, you MUST make sure to fully uninstall the previous drivers in Add/Remove Programs.

Then restart the PC and install the new drivers.

Just ran 3dmark and got a score of 8824. Is this common for this machine. I think ive seen them higher.

I need to get the new drivers right now i have 176.25. Do you think this will boost the score by alot or alittle.

Thanks again for all the feedback. I was getting nervous that i had a lemon or something. My machine seems to be doing good now, i just gotta get this fan replaced!!
