I noticed when comparing my 10 month old 5793 next to an HP pavilion DV9000 that the screen has a yellow hue to it and is not nearly white. Have any of you noticed something similar with your Sager systems?

I tried calibrize and didn't really like the results. I think my issue isn't a color setting thing its a monitor issue.

all lcd's are different. you could have 2 of the exact same part number panel and both could be set different from the factory. some have more blue-ish tint to the whites (auo almost always), some are more yellowish some red etc. as i said though you could take 2 lp171wu3 panels and they could look totally different.

a lot of people do not like a calibrated screen. my wife hates it. some people want that extra normal blue most companies add or red... to make the screen colors "pop" more. after calibrating a lot of times thing are much softer and colors may not be a vivid etc this is what it is really supposed to look like though.

screen companies have decided to go the way of whats popular instead of whats accurate because of that fact in most cases.

you can adjust some and get rid of most of that yellow but it would take some time to get right. i have a 12" clevo that the screen looked god aweful when i got it. but they were on blowout sale so i cant just send it back. i adjusted the individual settings for red green and blue and now it actually (aside from the light bleed which drives me crazy) looks as good as my 22" desktop screen. though the viewing angles still suck on it.

what have you tried so far aside from calibrating?

Zfactor I haven't tried anything except the calibrate. Also I notice the yellowness if very much a relative thing. If I have the laptop and using it on its own it looks fine and pretty white. But its only when I put it next to a 17" pavilion that I can see the definite yellowness since the pavilion screen is very white.

As far as color management software, which would you consider a good one?
