So...what could be the issue? I press the on button and it does nothing at all. No lights come on at all. It is plugged in but the plugged in light isn't on.

Have you recently done things like... opening the notebook without removing the battery? (don't do it)

I did open the notebook...but battery was out and unplugged. Guess I should have mentioned that in the original post. DOH!

What was your notebook doing the last time before it was shut off? Did you fiddle with any of the hardware when you opened your notebook? We need details on the moments prior to it not being able to fire up.

If there is a light on your power supply when plugged in, your motherboard is dead. If no light, the power supply is likely dead.

The part where the plug jacks in was getting extremely hot...so much so it was melting the case around it. I opened it open to see if I could figure out what was wrong.

I had to remove the harddrive and keyboard...I think that was it. Video card too. Sorry...memory is a bit faulty.

power supply was ok then. the problem was the power connection on the laptop. if it got the hot, it melted part of your motherboard. not sure if your warrenty will cover it, maybe your home insurrance will.

*** added thought, always unplug your lappy, it provide longevity for your power supply and your motherboard
