I recently purchased some apple in ear headphones (ADDIEM), but when I plug them into the headphone jack of my notebook (Sager 5796), they sound terrible (low volume, no bass, very crackly, and sometimes I can't even hear vocals). I have tried plugging the same headphones into both an ipod and a macbook pro, and they work well with both of those devices. Also, I have tried plugging other, cheaper headphones into my sager notebook and they work fine, too. Does anybody have any suggestions as to why these particular headphones function so poorly with my notebook?

In case it matters, my audio driver version is Realtek HD Audio 6.0.1.5898.

Alright, guys, I found a solution; for anyone who is curious (or if someone else experiences this problem in the future), I think the problem is caused by an extra input on the apple headphone jack for the built in microphone. This problem can be remedied by plugging the headphones in only 3/4 of the way, just past the 3rd "notch" on the headphone jack. This solution should also work for the stock iphone ear buds.
