Lets say I buy the 1650x1050 screen with the Sager 5797 with GTX 280m. Then in the future, hypothetically the GT212 40nm GPU comes out and is compatible with the 5797. My question is can I then upgrade my screen to a 1920x1200 screen in the future? and how?

    -thanks!

GPU has nothing to do with the screen upgrade. You will need a new screen for res as souroull said.

I mean with the GTX 280m, 1650x1050 seems like an optimal res for games, since newer games will not be able to be played on very high setting at 1920x1200.

However maybe in the future, the GT212 40nm will be able to play games on very high at 1920x1200, and in effect the WUXGA screen becomes the native and most optimal screen to get.

At that resolution have you considered how small everything is going to look, much less having to find wallpapers?

    Just my opinion but...
1650x1050 is plenty big (or small depending on how you look at it).
If anything I'd rather see lcds that could go to a lower resolution without the nasty amount of blur, before the resolutions increasing further.

Hey Terminus. Replacing screens is pretty easy. It will involves taking the system apart, your reseller will email you a PDF on how to do it (Number one reason I purchased a sager).

I'm very happy with my 1680x1050. Its absolutely perfect for gaming. It is the right resolution to make everything crisp and sharp, yet low res enough to keep the frame rates high. For the 9800M GTX and the GTX 280m, I wouldn't recommend anything more for gaming. But like you said, the GT212 would be a worthy partner to a 1200p screen. Future games are not only going to demand more raw power, but will continue to take advantage of higher and higher resolution screens. By the time the GT212 comes out later this year / early next, you'll be looking at beautiful 1200p LED screens instead of LCD, which will add to the spendor of high resolution. Photoshop and other pro apps also do well at those resolutions.

But, I would not go your route. If you are thinking of upgrading both the screen and the GPU, I'd wait for the M980NU to come out and pop a GT212 card in there with a 1200p screen. Then when games become too demanding for that resolution, simple put in another GPU!

yea, I totally agree. However atm I'm looking for a 17" laptop, the M980NU is too large.

Give the WSXGA+ some time. Once you get used to it, you'll never want a lower resolution. I went from 1280x800 to 1680x1050, and it was a bit jolting at first, but now I'm in love.

I'd say just stick with the 1680x1050. That's what I just bought my NP5797 with. I've seen games played in 1920x1200 and they do look good, don't get me wrong. But at that resolution they are tiny. 1680x1050 should be plenty small, and just right for gameplay. Remember, with how games run today, the lower the resolution, the better they play, even with a tricked out video card like the 280M.

However recently I have seen a friend playing WOW on a 21" screen at 1920x1200 on his desktop and it looked terrific. It seems to be a perfect resolution for a desktop, not a laptop. But that depends on the opinion of the user. If you like 1920x1200, go for it, but if you want the screen that wont blur up as much when put in a lower resolution for a high end game, then go for the 1680x1050. That's what it boils down to at the moment.

It's an "It's not out yet so no-one knows, but don't get your hopes up"

As the M570TU/ETU is MXM 2.1 (version IV) and clevo/other ODM's are now moving to MXM 3.0B, it is easily possible that the GT212 will only come out in MXM 3.0B flavour (thus not being compatible with the M570TU/ETU
