So to sum up how far we've gotten.

Fn + 1 is full speed.
Fn + 2 is auto? i.e. will ramp up and down, but you need to use this mode when gaming because the fans will not spin up otherwise in Fn + 3
Fn + 3 is the constant medium-low fan speed.

Is that all right? What does the GPU fan do during these different modes?

The fan keys are toggle, when you start your laptop you are in Auto mode.

Press Fn+1 and you switch to Full Speed
Press Fn+1 again and you're back to Auto

Press Fn+3 and you switch to Medium Speed mode
Press Fn+3 again and you're back to Auto

Fn+2 is the toggle to enable/disable SRS-WOW sound, it has nothing to do with the fans...

It's better use either Auto or Full Speed mode when gaming, until we get an answer from Clevo about the temperatures issue if Fn+3 mode.

    Hope this helps :)

No it is not. Well, sort of , I guess, since Penryn`s are supose to run cooler than the others. My T7500 idles at 30/28C and the GPU at 33-35C on medium mode.

The cpu is ok on idle for even 50 so no problem.

    wow thats low. :)

high is if your CPU stays past 70C degrees,, but most do not even get past 60C in that notebook

    Here is the proof :D
You can tell I really love this medium mode :D

About the firmware: you go into Nero, select Backup and burn image to Cd, choose the firmware file and then reboot with the cd inserted, press ok to flash and follow instructions.
You will hear a beep once it`s finished, then if the system does not restart, shut it off ...just read through and you`ll see what I mean.

Mine T7700 idles around 26ºC core 0 and 30ºC core 1 after aplying AS5. The 8700M GT, on 2D mode, cicles betwen 43/47ºC(GPU fan on/off).

    ;)

Humm there is some mistake... the ACPI temperature of the CPU reports 31ºC and both cores at 17ºC?!

Maybe that version of Everest doesn´t read correctly the Peryn integrated core temperature diodes.

    Try CoreTemp...

    ;)

been wondering that for a while now. >.> there seems to be something wrong with core temp though, because now it says I have a server processor and a LGA771 socket. :D the temps are pretty low again though. Well except for the one that shows 105c lol.

This is an odd question, but I thought that both Xotic and Powernotebooks use Artic Silver 5 standard?

xotic and powernotebooks say they do use AS5. Thing is not everyone buys from them, think dundersten got his form r and j tech.

How where your temps before AS5 ?

You don't use latest firmware to avoid this ?

I`ve had a few mail in chats with Allen from Sager and I`ve made sure they`re aware of the non returning to high speed mode when needed issue.
But I don`t tend to forget important things so I always set it back to auto.

One thing to note though, when gaming my temps are lower than with the other firmwares, on auto.
Where before I could see 65C cpu and 65C gpu in heroes 5, now I see max 60C cpu and 52 C gpu... I`m firmly gripped into this firmware thing as it does what it supose to , minus returning to gaming mode by itself.
    Won`t be long now :D
