I'm thinking of getting an 8120 and maxing out most of the initial specs. I noticed though that even baseline it's really heavy, just over 12 pounds.

How is this issue for those of you that own it? I mean once you start putting hard drives and whatnot in there it gets even heavier. How portable is it? Is it a pain in the to use on the go or when traveling?

Even though I ask that, I would *mostly* use it at home but I would like the machine to be portable as well without being TOO much of a hassle. I'm just curious what your experiences with it are like.

I use an M570RU, which is some 8 pounds, throw in another two for the adapter. I use a very rugged bag which is itself a bit on the heavy side (~3 pounds) and have a few hard disks, a mouse, occasionally carry an X360 controller, cables and a Notepal Infinite. The entire bag weighs 26 pounds according to the little weighing scale at the airport I recently took a flight at. I carry the bag about a half hour total throughout the day, getting to work and back home, relying on public transport to get around my city (Mumbai).

The laptop wreaked some havoc on my back (and my last backpack, a Swissgear something-or-the-other) for the first six months I had it, but I've gotten fairly used to it now - hello back muscle!

My system is almost 13lbs with PSU and even though I carry it to work every day, using an orthopedic backpack with nice weight distribution helps a lot, and it feels literally feather-lite. Notebook weight is no longer a concern for me.
