is set to any but Max Performance, in the advanced power settings options screen. doesn't matter if it's on battery or plugged in, any of the other Wireless Performance settings causes the internet speeds to drop to a crawl--like worse than a fast dial up connection. anyone else with an 8130 have this trouble? My battery life is poor--i get roughly a couple of hours on battery.

Battery life is 2-3 hours on average. Is that what you're getting? For wireless, have you run a speed test when it's running normal and when it's running slow? Do you notice slowdowns on any other machines or just this one?

What type of router are you using?

(Sorry for all the questions, it's one of those things that could have lots of causes)

I notice the same thing. Max power savings is awful. Medium isn't too bad, but need max performance if I want to download Youtube or something. It's good enough for general web browsing but downloading files or decent sized YouTube vids can be slow. I have the Intel 6230 Advanced N.

i have the Wireless Network IntelĀ® Advanced-N 6230 - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module. I can't even set it to Low Power Savings or it is as slow as it is if I set it to Maximum Power Savings. I finally wentinto device manager instead and set the card to Low Transmit power. Maybe that will help with battery life, but I'm not holding my breath. setting it that way does NOT affect internet speed at all, thank god.

To be honest, the wi-fi card can't draw much more than a couple Watts total, and reducing it probably only drops it a fraction of a Watt. But let us know how it fares. Thanks.
