I already have a standard size caddy and I'm considering buying a 5400rpm 1TB drive to fill it. Is it just plug and play, do I need to fiddle with BIOS, etc Thanks![]()

It should be plug and play. You may have to manually mount the drive (I had to do this) but you shouldn't have to do anything in the BIOS.
In Windows 7 you do this by going into the Control Panel>Administrative Tools, then open up Computer Management. Click on Disk Management in the toolbar on the left, then you should see the drive in the lower part of the center panel. From there you should be able to format it so it shows up. -

It's plug and play. Just follow what Gear332 said to get it formatted and assigned a drive letter in Windows. The only thing you might run into is that the bezel on your optical caddy may not match the machine unless you swap it for the bezel on the old optical drive. Some cheap caddies use different connection types though, so it may not fit the same. If you're not worried about it matching, then the whole thing is moot anyway
