I'm looking for some advice from fellow Clevo/Sager owners...
My on-board NIC stopped working (not sure when, but I havent lost any networking equipment to a lightning strike or power surge so I think I can rule that out).
Here are my troubleshooting steps so far:
My network cable/port are GOOD - verified with cable testers and I put another laptop on the same network cable/port.
I removed and re-installed the JMicro driver from Sager.
I tried removing the NIC in Device Manager, Scan for Hardware Changes, it finds the Ethernet Controller, and I can install the JMicron drivers - 'Unhelpful' Windows gives the device status "The device is working properly". This step leads me to believe the device is powered, but the wiring to the port might be faulty.
I have not performed a clean install of Windows to verify that some other program has contaminated the network configuration (like my VMware Workstation) - Doubtful this is the issue because the PXE boot complains 'no cable'.
Any thoughts or recommendations???
Are there any network utilities that can test the on-board NIC for power and/or debug the wiring?
Is there any additional benefit to disassembling the 8150 down to the motherboard and visually inspecting the on-board NIC? If so, can someone post links to the dis-assembly guide?

I'm considering getting a Sager laptop myself. I'll be interested in knowing how this gets resolved.
