    Hi everyone,

Im going to post this here as well as this appears to be where all the clevo/sager posters are.

Long time viewer of this form and I really appreciate all of the posters here and their dedication. It really helps. Finally Im posting something. Well, its time for me to make a serious investment in a notebook that needs to last me the next few years. This will be my main workstation for work, home, school and travel for the next 3-4 years so a combination of power and a little portability will be important. I am currently a systems/network administrator at a software company and also a student. By the end of the year I will be moving to london to become a full time student in Biochemistry at the UCL. Of course I will need to work as well and will probably stay in the IT field as it pays the bills. Anyway, I need this laptop to be powerful enough for intense multi-tasking, virtualization (multi-platform), gaming, and school as it will become my only machine. I also really would like to have a good display panel. I have been looking at clevo based laptops for a while now and think the sager 8150 could be the perfect solution for me with excellent balance of power (gpu+cpu) and portability (fairly slim 15.6").

The configuration I have been looking at with the 8150 includes:
upgraded screen LED matte screen with 95% NTSC color gamut
    2720qm
    amd 6970 gpu

other options are not as important right now but Im trying to keep this under $1700 if possible. Can any resellers step forward and help me out here? I would love to work with a reputable reseller to find a good solution.

    thanks for listening.

For those, you're around $1850 I think. Better to pm the resellers individually then ask for a public answer from all of then. They'll be more willing to work with you in private. They're not going to pop up here and try to undercut each other lol..

    Good luck

a good way to ask the resellers in private and compare which one can give a better price and service to you. :)

Yes, you are right. It was not my intention to get them involved publicly. Should have probably just PM'ed them with these questions and that's what Im going to do but Im not quite sure who to PM.

Any advice on which resellers to talk with and who to PM from each one? Or just point me to the correct thread and ill figure it out.

I know xoticpc, malibal, mythlogic, powernotebooks, lp-digital all seem to be pretty reputable. Are there others and do you know where i can find their contact info to PM?

thanks again and forgive my ignorance.

Check us all out, every name and company on here is reputable.

One thing to keep in mind about pricing is that all resellers do have to stick to Sager pricing. We dont get to pick what we sell the computers at, that's determined by Sager. If you check out resellers sites and compare the prices directly to Sagers site the prices should be identical.

builders don't have to :D maybe on gpu's? but they buy their parts from other vendors, so if they get deals on bulk orders, they'll have more room to come down in price.. in theory lol

Well it looks you've done your homework. You need at least the 2720 for virtualization. The 2630 isn't capable.

The 6970 should last a good 4 years for gaming ... maybe 4 years down the line it'll be passable @ low to medium settings.

With those 2 specified requirements that you have and no other frills i think $1700 range is doable without an O/S.
