Been using it for about a week. Has a 1070, a 6820HK, 4K screen. Lots of WoW at 4k, no problem. Started up Doom for about an hour at 4k, Vulkan, mostly ultra settings, running steady between 45-60fps. After about an hour the screen froze, and it looked like every other pixel on the screen was blacked out giving it a checkerboard look. Tried ctl+alt+del, didn't work, but computer restarted.

Restarted Doom again to check temps, they really aren't bad. 60s for CPU and 70s for GPU. What do you think is going on? Thanks for the help.

Is it happening everytime? What drivers do you have on the gpu?

Newest drivers, 372.54. I played it again for a little bit, no lock up yet, but wasn't as long as my previous session when it happened.

May have been a fluke, but report if it happens again, and see if you can monitor temps and clockspeeds etc.

New chip, new API. I would not worry unless it keeps happening.

OK thanks for the info. Played it again for another hour+ and no lock up so it was probably a one-off.

Agree with Meaker on this.. You are fine... If it happens every 10 mins in different games, then only you are in trouble!

Hopefully it was a one-time deal. I had a lock up or two on a clean install of Windows way back when playing Borderlands 2, and then it never happened again. Doom looks great, by the way.

Yeah I have a comparable machine (PROSTAR!) and DOOM has been running flawlessly, same drivers, you should be fine! :)
