    Hello All,

I recently ordered a 8170 with a basic drive as i could get a SSD cheaper than the resellers where offering. I then noticed that the SSD I ordered is now covered under this whole sandforce controller BSOD problem with 'some' installs.

my question is does anyone here have a 8170 AND a 3rd gen OCZ SSD like the vertex or agility? is it stable?

o and a silly question. what connector type is the power adapter? is it straight in or is it a 90 degree bend? i always find the straight connectors wear badly if you use it on your lap allot (like say a laptop??)

There is a compatibility issue with most sandforce drives and the Clevo shells. We have / are working directly with Patriot on their Sandforce series (Wildfire and Pyro) and have special firmware on the drives that makes the better compatible with the Clevo line. We actually have a new firmware revision coming out soon for the drives that fixes one more very rare issue. We have also attempted to work with OCZ on this issue, however were met with no help. So that is why at this time thats the only sandforce powered SSD we have offered, as its unique in that it has the fixes needed to actually work.

The power connector is built into the motherboard, so you plug the SSD right in.

Could these new firmwares be publicly available? or you keep it only for your customers? :)

The firmware will only work on the Patriot Drives not the OCZ's as the firmware while based on the sandforce reference are all customized. (I'm sure you knew that part, but had to say it =) )

That being said, we'll have to talk it over with them to see if they will allow that as they may have to "break" something in the firmware for other chipsets etc (Think like firmware 3.2.0-Clevo) and so probably wouldn't want it running around, or it could be unified. Honestly didn't ask the question, but I will =)

    thanks

Thank you :) It would be very useful for Clevo's owners who have a Patriot drive with the old firmware version.

Yea as I said we've been working with them for a while on these drives to make them ready for the Clevo's we just have one or two rare issues left.
