I am thinking of getting the 8180 from Malibal. Are there any reasons I should go for 2 x 6990m instead of the 2 x 6970m? What about CPUs? 2630 vs 2670 vs 2760? Please help me make a cost effective decision here.

I am currently using an Asus G73 first gen with 5870m and I'd like to max out BF3 and Skyrim if possible.

    Thank you.

If you're just looking for gaming, the stock 2630 should be more than enough. The 2670 offers a 10% performance boost, while the 2760 is another 10%. If you do encoding or other CPU intensive tasks, the extra power will be useful. Also, if you plan on using 1600Mhz RAM, you'd need the 2760 minimum, as the other two do not support it.

For the GPU, 2x 6990 will offer significantly better performance (40-50%) but with higher power draw. If you want to get longer life out of it, there's incentive to upgrade. However, I think that crossfire'd 6970's should work just fine for Skyrim.

I don't believe either will max out BF3 with AA and all the settings cranked up, but it should run at very high and with lowered AA.
