My 8662 is only days from arriving, and I'm currently living in Asia where they use 220v and have a European style plug (2 round prongs).

My question is, do I need to buy a whole different power supply or does it come apart where you can just buy the end part (where it plugs in)??

I need to know so I can buy one before it gets here.

Also to those of you in Europe (not UK), what did you do?

It comes standard with a Full Range, Auto Sensing, Auto Switching AC Adapter that can be used all over the world. All you need is the small plug adapter that goes into the wall socket.

thanks. but i mean, does the power brick separate where you could attach a cord with a different wall plug? the adapters are kind of annoying to keep up with, and also they don't have one that go from a 3-prong American one to the EU style here; only the 2-prong American one, which doesn't have grounding.

Yes, the power cord is pretty standard that plugs into the wall, with the other end that plugs into the brick, and all you have to do is get a cord that will match the plug pattern in the brick, and will match at the other end the plug required for the wall socket. You could even buy 2-3 cords instead of the wall socket adapter if you think that is somehow a better solution. Just make sure they are grounded if that is the way the original comes.

The point is the brick will automatically sense what is coming in volt and hrtz wise, then switch that to the proper output to go to the laptop.

thanks, thats what i needed to know!

i just wanted to make sure that if i got a cord that matched the plug pattern, it would work and not cause any problems :)
