Can anyone tell me the actual screen size of both these laptops? I know the specs but is that the actual screen they say on the laptop? I want to know how much size difference there is? And on the 8690 is the 1600 resolution nice? Especially if gaming isn't the priority? Or is the $60 upgrade pretty much needed. TIA

Hi I cant comment on difference between the 8690 and 8790's screens, the 8690 is a 15.6" screen and the 8670 is a 17".

As for the resolutions I have had the 900p and the 1080p screen. Personally for the extra 60 bucks I would get the full HS 1080p screen and it looks fantastic and will be that extra bit enyoyable what ever you do on it weather that be watching films and surfing the net, or that extra res when gaming.

The only drawback to the 1080p screen is that text is smaller, however I have not found it hard to read nor have I found it strains my eyes.

All in all I believe the extra $60 for the fulll HD screen to be worth it weather your a gamer or not.

Yeah but what is the actual screen size? You have a NP8670 what are the screen dimensions? Height and width?

Screen sizes are fairly standard, so because the 15.6" screen is a 16:9 ratio screen, a bit of math will show you that the height will be about 7.65", and the width will be about 13.6". Note that this is for the screen itself, not including the bezel. For the 17.3", it will be 15.08" across, and 8.48" tall.
