So I just bought a used 8760 from PMcar99 off the forums and the thing is perfect except for one minor problem, I've installed 10.7 and it won't recognize the card. Device Manager shows VGA adapter and in the advanced settings on the Display menu it shows Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. Chip Type ATI ATOMBIOS and Total available graphics memory at 16mb.

When he sent the laptop he did a full clean wipe of the laptop so I reinstalled windows to it and made sure that it was fresh. I still can't get anything to recognize this ATI card for some reason.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

How do I do that? I downloaded the newest bios from Sager website. It is an ISO how do I update the bios with that? There are no details on how to do it.

I know what the problem is: I bet you downloaded from the main ATi page, right?

    Use this download instead.

The main page installer won't detect the card, but the DD version will. I had this problem with 10.5 when I got mine.

Are you sure it was the DD version though? The first link in the 10.7 thread isn't for this version.

Ok, that's the problem. Uninstall it, delete "c:\ati", then download the driver I linked in the above post and install that one.

"10-7_mobility_vista_win7_64_ dd_ccc.exe" is the direct download version.

"10-7_mobility_vista_win7_32-64_ccc.exe" is the web installer, which is what your installed. This one only installs the catalyst control center and not the actual display driver on our cards.

Why wouldn't they put the whole package on the site. Really stupid. Where do you find the DD version for future knowledge?

    Glad to hear it's fixed.

I've never seen the DD version posted anywhere but here. I can't find it on the ati page, so what I did was copy the address to the 10.5 DD's and just changed the "10-5" at the start of the filename to whatever the current version is in the address bar. So far it's worked.
